Hi I have a few questions concerning pet fusions and making dps pets

So from what I have gathered is that fusion are necessary but I'm confused about this whole you will need a pet A,B,C, and D pet to fuse together because I'm not sure how to do it properly or what I will need to do it. I don't know how to raise potential. I see lots of people fuse pets with lv1 starter pets to just get the skill they want but is it worth it. Also how do I level passive skills efficiently

Sorry If I don't make sense!

The need for fusing pets ABCD in a particular order is a way of locking favorable traits such as type/nature/weapon/skill. Fusing two pets only allow you to keep two traits, think of it as a way to bypass a 5-lock synth even if you don't have one.

And iirc, passive skills level up on their own, just keep having your pet fight them mobs/bosses.

As mentioned above, that just a way to lock type, nature etc. Also you can lock the color with some spina on it. I think fuse pet with lvl 1 is not worth it, cz cap fused pet lvl get from (pet A lvl + pet B lvl)/2 so i think the best way to fuse is make both pet max lvl first, then fuse them.

    Correct me if i'm wrong

Its only worth fusing higher level pets .You get 10% bonus of combined parents' potential. You can fuse as many as u want but it costs millions of spina as the fusions get high.
You may work on below formula for making stronger pet
    Pet A +Pet B = Pet AB
Pet C+ Pet D= Pet CD
    Pet AB+Pet CD= strong pet

Dps roles for pets is nerfed at best(unless you plan to play as lone wolf player for a long time).
At best, asobimo must have taken my vampire pet build as a threat to game balance(it is a self healing dps pet and damge sponge that i shove as a tank). before you start fusing, it is very advisable to keep those pet traits and stats in check at all times. It will save a lot of butt hurt along the way specially when you are grinding your pet's legacy skill to cap.
Based on my experience, it is always best to fuse to gain level and not to drop it. So start with the pets with the lowest levels first. It may sound crazy since the first step is to chop off all your hard work.(since most popular pet apps got 3 digit levels already, unless you are one of those guys who plan to get a pico as a pet and name it as "boku". Yah, it is the oldest tamer joke. Most victims lost Innocence when they are gullable enuf to look it up) Best to counter it is to shell out 6 orbs(3 to gather and 3 to transfer to your actual pet app.) Your hard work wont go to the drain just to assemble your custom pet. Plus you get free orbs anyway so your wallet and your 6M spina is safe from any harm.
Passive pet skills gain exp per kill(sadly, it is a 1 target per kill ordeal. You get 1 when you drop a finale. Unlike before that you get a lot of pet skill exp once you drop a big aoe skill)

So for passive skills skills gentle doesn't get the exp per your kills?
I have a sorcererabit with MD-Ordinary-steady right now it's potential is Int 210
It has magic lance lv5 with a cap of 171
But it only deal about 40-50k magic lance
    But it's only level 62
How should I go about this pet I want to make it like dps pet but I don't know what other secondary skill I should get to fuse to it I just want some sort of dps with survivability

Gentle and timid are special case pets. It get exp from your kills like normal pets. It just dont get extra as "skill use" cause it dont use attack skills.
It is up to you how you wanna build your pet. Tho, building a vampire pet like mine is a bit unhealthy. Skills from the outside rim specially them corner skills are a major pain to plan for future fodders(but they are dang good to pass up, worth my butt hurt and pet sacrifice to RNG gods).
U have 3 tasty skills to choose from as the 2nd inherited skill, aggro-less attack(forgot the name, sorry) for spamming, hp absorb(vampire conversion), or hp gain to add more meat to your pet when it take hits.
