I was trying things with coryn club stat calculator and I got 400%+ crit(I read somewhere that with spell burst, 400% crit = 100% crit for magic) with these parameters:
255 INT, 255 CRT (I don't know the current cap limit so I will make do with this)
Weapon: Any Staff w/ Crit 20, Crit% 20 at least; Xtal: Megiston The Champion, Gwaimol
Armor: Curious Dress; Xtal: Radibat, Critical Rate +5
Additional: Eyeball Ribbon; Xtal: Yashiro Azuki's Mom, Gespenst II
Special: Dark Talisman (Flash); Xtal: Volgagon, Seele Zauga

    Skill:
    Two-handed 10, Critical Up 10

    Food Buff:
    Critical Rate +14

    Total Crit rate: 402%
    What do you guys think?

How about using magic warrior route instead, and use thunder axe as weapon?
In addition of astute and berserk, it will be easier to reach 400 crit.

It would be more effective if you have someone in your party to cast weaken debuff to the target monster.

Two handed skill only gives half the effect when it is used for non-katana weapons.

22-26 crit rate food buff is currently available.

Cdmg also matters for crit mage.

I check it with coryn. With thunder axe + astute berserk, and ofc food buff crit +22. u can get 485 crit rate. Very high for finale user.
U can exchange some equipment to support raw damage instead.

Here is another info: 150% crit dmg = 112.5% crit dmg for magic
You put everything in crit for 12.5% dmg increase, while throwing potential 2k+ matk, which means at least 66% lost dmg

I agree with those saying it’s not worth it to focus on. The reward is far too underwhelming to be worth the sacrifice. I think spellburst is best used in the case of physical + magic hybrids(such as bowgun + MD cf/finale or staff + dagger finale/arcane) since you need critical rate for physical skills anyway, so having that 100+ is a nice bonus for magic skills as well.

it is not throwing 2k matk... with 4th anniv staff IX and +S refine and all other complementing passive skills oh and lvl 200 as well, I got 2400+ matk on the calculator.
Maybe we could put element advantage on the staff (not awaken element but stronger against element) since mage advantage are mostly with elements.
12.5% increase in dmg might not be worth it for other weapon type, but finale has insane dmg calculation for 1st hit right? So I think it does matter

mind telling me whats the stats distribution, equip, and skills?
    If I use what you post I will get: 25 + 75 + 25 + 25 + 22 = 172 crit rate
half the effect is fine since all crit count and stability of 5 % is nice as well. as for the food buff, even if I use higher level food buff, it can at most change 1 or 2 xtals nothing more. edit: well maybe save some skill point?

That is pretty low. Average 1s builds can have 4.4k+ matk easily. Like I said:
Finale first hit formula with staff: (3000+matk)*40 (considering 255 int)
How much 4.4k matk finale is compared to 2.4k matk finale? ((3000+4400)*40)/((3000+2400)*40) = 1.37
Which means if you increase you matk by 2k when you have only 2.4k, you get a 37% total damage increase, while 100% crit gives 12.5%. Damage difference will become bigger if we consider all hits, since they have lower skill damage constants.
It matters for the sake of the argument of 100% mage crit not being worth.

I used the same equipment as your first post except the weapon.
IMO 400 crit is not worth it.
200 crit is enough if u could utilize weaken debuff.
With weaken debuff 200 cdmg will become 175 cdmg.
If u could reach 200 crit and 4k cspd, magic: burst could be an option.
When other standard mage can only cast one finale for each charge, you could cast 3 critical burst.

Oh I see so that's what you mean
I guess I just don't understand magic warrior skills in general...

Critical finale is hard to be an effective build.
But it's different for magic burst.
With thunder axe, blade skill buffs, and food, you can achive the intended critical magic build from developer.
You only need to build int>dex char.
Then add high cycle from support skill.
U will get 3k+ matk with good cdmg.

Emm, I have to say I have tried elemental slash + burst already. Although it makes my magic critical a lot but mp, time and proration consumption is too harsh as elemental slash is also magic skill. Even worse, it miss a lot. Therefore, I rejected this as my lv200 build and keep my magic crt rate at 25% (maybe i should add one corner about this in my guide)

    My suggestions are:
    1. No need to get 400 crt now as it gives up too much dps, but getting 100 crt is still a good idea.
    2. Be mentally prepared that magic crt will become a basic component of mage in future (Well, thats my experience in Iruna though, maybe wrong)

    Astute > element slash (con/save)> deadly spear (con)> magic burst (smite)> impact(con).
With deadly spear u can prorate good enough.

But medium combo might not good enough for u.

I dunno why ppl putting ele on staff when finale is fixed element lol, also burst base damage sucks in comparison to finale so even with crt boost it won’t be worth your time, I rather use burst after spamming mage skills for fast damage other than farming burst isn’t worth it in boss battles.

Awaken element don't work on finale, but % stronger than element do.
Awaken element gives 25% bonus dmg to the opposing element while % stronger than element gives whatever % it says bonus dmg to the same element stated

For cost performance ratio, finale is better than burst. But this is more like a fun and special build. When you got bored with the general build.
All physical skills are weaker than finale. But they overwhelmed finale by quantity.
I can't deny your reason tho. Crit magic are more like luxury build.

Don’t get me wrong I loved the idea and looked for ways to make it happen but the more I tried the more unrealistic it seems, but if anyone wants to go down that road be my guest. I will even share how I intended to do it......

    400% crt(100% m.crt)= 255 crt personal stat+ 140%(prototype clarity)+100%(curious dress)+20crt( witches hat)+15(Seele zauga)+5(critical up in battle skill)+20-22( crt rate food buff)

that will give you the figure u wanted crt wise , book of magic warrior for magic attack conversion and it’s your choice to do full str, full int or a combination of the two , but with all of this keep in mind burst needs decent cspd to make it spammable I recommend like 2k+ . At any rate you would be exhausting your xtal slots and skills to make both happen, leaving you with meager offense . So yeah that’s why no one ( to my knowledge)have made a full magic crt build that successfully competes with other dps builds.
