hi all, thank you for reading. I'm completely new and want to play this game with just one character (2HS), but want to know what I'll be "missing out" on.
I don't want to make a Blacksmith, but it seems important. I read some guides and it was very complicated for a new player like me. All I got was that you can craft to get additional stats/slots from potential.

    My questions are:
    1. Can I use the NPC Blacksmith for the same services as a player Blacksmith? For example if I have a 20 potential 2HS can I use the NPC blacksmith to translate it into +20 VIT, or do I need a player Blacksmith for this?

    2. Can I get endgame/late game gear from just farming mobs and bosses? Or will I be missing out on optimized stats/slots by not having a Blacksmith alt?

    3. Do I lose on permanent stat buffs if I don't level alts? (Some games give you bonus stats on your characters if you have more than 1 character)

    4. Anything else you think will help me related to this topic :D

1> making a bs (blacksmith) is ur choice totally u can craft armor and weapon from player smith other than that all npc bs
npc bs will craft all non tradable items besides add gear and rings so if u wanna stat u need a player bs or buy from cb (consignment board)
2> well if u need dropped items just farm mobs and bosses and if u need stated ones then either buy or make a bs
3> in toram its not like that only one char will give u all stat points so its ur choice to lv up alts

First of all, welcome to the game, hope you will have memorable experiences grinding through this hell

    1. No. In this game, NPC-made and players-made equipment are two different thing, even if they share the same name, their functions share almost no similarities. NPC-made will always have fixed stats implemented, while players-made, instead of fixed stats, will contain a number of "potential point" which can be used to put in your own choices of stat
(Though it may sound like NPC-made are overwhelmed, sometimes they will have unique stat that players-made can't put)
So yeah, to turn 20 pot into +20 VIT, it has to be done on player's BS

    2. Yes, since everything (I mean literally EVERYTHING that can be traded) can sell in this game, so you can sell materials to buy equipments made by other players. Mob/Bosses also drop OP equipments too, sometimes

    3. No, since this game count their bonus by the number of character slots you currently have, so you can just leave slots empty if you haven't decide on making any new character

    4. You can search the Guide section in this forum

Just play it how you like it. In most cases you'll want to try your hands on something new, new character builds then blacksmiths. I know some friends who doesn't have any blacksmith after years of playing.

#1. No npc sucks. You can buy services from other players.
#2. Farming from event boses might get you a unique equipments. But you're limited to refine those by yourself. Buying equipments from other player is another option.
#3. An alt is not in the same account as your current one.
In toram you can have multiple characters in one account. 18 being the current maximum number. You keep whatever bonus from achievement emblems on the same account.

empty weapons can only be statted by player smiths. and that character must be lv200 and have 4th tier smithing skills to stat +20.
but this is completely optional, you can also do everything with the regular equipment from bosses/npc craft.
the benefit of a player character smith is that refinement doesn't cost spina and can go a little higher than +9.
you might miss out on refining above +9.
emblem rewards are shared between all characters in your account.
every 10 levels, you'll get an emblem that unlocks 5 extra stat points.
all your current and future characters will get 5 points each.
another emblem increases exp gain while your level is below a certain limit.
all characters who fullfill the condition will benefit from this.
"alt" usually refers to alt account, which means different login, different name, different game state.
you cannot share emblems/achievements between accounts and there is no innate benefit in managing multiple accounts, just more work.

you get 4 character slots for free in 1 account. more characters can be unlocked with orbs. (for a gradually increasing price)
the characters in your account share the same inventory and achievements, but each one has their own level, stat and skill points and main quest progress.

You'd want to be self sufficient by having at least a refiner Blacksmith. All you have to do is a max tec character with refining skill. The refiner can also be an alchemist to synthesize gears

It's ok if you don't want to have a blacksmith/synthesizer character, but getting spina will be 10 times harder. You can use NPC service to synthesize dyes for gears and refining, but the spina costs is not a joke.

Let's say you want to sell full set of ABC dyes from a dropped equipment which is untradable. You need to synthesize it to a tradable equipment first, and the cost to do that on NPC will be far greater than the selling cost, and in the end you will lose more spina instead of making profit. The same applies in refining. Getting to +9 is the most f2p can handle, or +E if miracle happens, on using NPC service. Getting to +D needs that orb shop's xx00% refinement success ticket. Refining at NPC also costs spina. So why bother using NPC refine service when +B and beyond are common enough by players nowadays? Also don't forget, for untradable gears, we have to refine it by ourself. And yes, some or few endgame gears sometimes dropped from high difficulty challenge bosses, but dropped weapon & armor are untradable. In the end without having smith char, you have to stick to those gears at +9, or you will have to buy tradable gears from other players.

Moving on to alt, well... other people already answered it plenty enough I guess.

so basically most of my farmed weapons will be completely useless. since they are untradeable I cannot give them to a player blacksmith for refine service for +E -> +B. I can only go up to +9.
    I read that +9 = 1.9x attack bonus, while +B = 2.82x, which is a huge difference.

It seems my only option is to buy crafted weapons (or make a STR blacksmith to craft myself) and then buy +B refine services from a TEC blacksmith. And then after +B, I will need a LUK blacksmith to try to go up to +S (if I want to).

It sounds like maybe I can make my untradeable weapons tradeable, but like you say it will be extremely expensive, on top of buying a refine service.

    Thanks everyone.

Nope, synthesis skill didn’t make your untradeable weapon become tradeable. What it’s did is take out you “untradeable Weapon Appearances” and put it on your “tradeable weapon”.

People create BS because they need to earn money from other than combat, reason is..

    (1)you don’t have spina
(2)You need farm boss sell mat earn spina
(3)You can’t beat boss because no equipment and no HP regen potion.
(4)You need buy Good Equipment + potion

And then now you back to (1) again....it’s an unlimited loop, until you quit the game.

you can choose not to have a BS, but you need a character that can help at least farm normal material without spend too much spina on it.

1> You need to have a character dedicated to stating to have gear with custom stats.
2> You can obtain optimized gear by farming boss and sell valuable the valuable drops to CB to buy player crafted gear. Tanks/maybe supports seem to be the only class that do the best with boss drops in my opinion.
3> The only buff that I can think of by having "alts" or really open character slots is the max number material points you can store for statting custom gear.
4> In my opinion having alts in this game is kinda a must. With alts, you can optimize a character for a particular task. This specialization allows you to earn spina in a multitude of ways, refining, stating, crafting etc. DPS/Tank Alts allows you to have more flexibility in boss fights and events. For example I have a Halberd character which is not amazing in Gespy in comparison to bow with CF. But since, I had a tank character I was able to obtain a party quite quickly in comparison to my halberd. Currently, I am leveling a bow to use for bosses that are particular tricky or difficult for HBs ( cough kutzo freaking aoe spike makes the boss immune to DT... cough ).

i only use my alts purely for storage. alt as in a completely different acct. alts isn't a must, if u're the type of player to pay for stuff, u can obtain orbs to buy extra storage within your 1 acct. i do however, recommend having multiple characters. Standard i think is 3 free char slots the rest u pay for via orbs. having multiple characters help with ur journey in toram

    Im trying XD
    1. No you need a player blacksmith to do statting
    2. Yes or no? You can get it but thats a more long process withouth some production character. As you said you will be missing out by not having blacksmith. At least you need to have BS for refine your own weapon. Tradable is ok you can ask friend/buy service(carful, many scammer. get trusted at least), but how about equipment that cant be traded? refine in npc? that was just throwing spina imo.
    3. Do you mean other character in your account? If yes then i think No, there is a emblem here that you can get reward, such as stat point+5 or skill point+1. this thing will get you an extra in your current character slot and your future(if you make) character slot you make.
    4. I know you might think 1 char is enough, but i recomended you to have 1 char for farm mats(full LUK stat), 1 char BS at least for refine your own equipment(Full TECH stat with all refine skill take). Both no need for high level imo, especially if your BS is refine only. Then your own main char.
Edit : if you talk about alt account, i recomended it as your 'storage only', well upgrade it too is ok, its your time. but if your talk like alt character in same accout, there you go.

    no. LUK chars are overhyped.
255 LUK translates to a 25% drop rate boost. this does not increase the loot count by 25% and it doesn't add 25 to the drop rates either. it just multiplies drop rates by 1,25.
255 points is like half your stat points, so you either sacrifice half your power or all of your beef/speed/whatever for a minor chance effect.

survival skills have a skill named Drop Rate Up, which boosts drop rates by 1% per skill level. it has no prerequisites, so the cost is low.
giving up 10 skill points (1 skill) for a 10% boost is much more affordable than 110 stat points for the same effect.

LUK costs 10-times more than Drop Up, but you do not gain 10-times more stat points than skill points.

1.25 drop rate multiplier might not sound great but it also means you will spend 20% less time to get the same amount of loot.
Because repetitive farming is boring, i think investing luk definitely help a lot.

how high level will these additional characters need to be, and about how long will it take? I am thinking because they have no Strength it will be painful.

Does anyone know if this is the same in Iruna Online? Do they also have a "statting system where a player blacksmith is required" or "refine system where you must use a player Blacksmith in order to get to +B"?

No. Your developing a farming character. You should have full luck + Drop Rate up. Specialization allows for optimization for a particular task. A Luck HB does not need AGI and a LUK mage does not need dex either. By sacrificing the bossing ability of these characters you increase the effectiveness of these chars for farming mobs. Your goal is farming mobs not bossing.

Toram is a game of alts. Making a character that can do everything can save effort but in reality will not be competitive against a character that is optimized for a particular task.

Hmm, for LUK char around 150 should be already powerfull i think? If you only take drop rate skill like Red_Fox said, your stat will be in your damage main(ex: INT for mage LUK). So it will be less level.
If you take full LUK, need to take worth of 127 level stats to your LUK, then rest to your main stat. Thats not including stat point you got from emblem reward so it. My mage LUK is level 192 and have 256 INT 255 LUK (including from emblem reward). I still recomended to take full LUK stat tho, because farming, and can help you refine to S(info: refine to S is literally only 1% or less so its literally either failed or degrade. With LUK stat, you have increased rate to not degrade, not success rate tho. Add with anti-degradation, you can mostly escape for that degrade. Note : there are more than one LUK char, im using Mage LUK because thats i know only and my char mostly mage so dont need to prepare most equipment.

And for BS, if its only for refine then should be lower, like Like full tech stat is 255, 1 already there when unlock so 254. You got 2 stat points each level, so
    254/2 = 127
Reminder about stat points you get from emblem, so will be less that that level. Skill point required to refine only in smith skill is only 40(take full refine skill).
How about including statting BS to put potential like you want? then best one is current cap(210). Reason is each 10 level you can increase some maximum stat input(ex: 210 can input 21 INT, but 200 can only input 20 INT. cmiiw).

How long it will take? idk exact days, but i think should be le around a week if you cant skip the main quest(should ). Oh this is if you level up by only main quest, dont know if just kill mobs/boss(need to prepare some gear and spend some skill for this, expected you dont know much about some skill, better do main quest. can bring you to around level 145-150).
