I don't see why other classes shouldn't able to use sword skills. Tbh, they're all kinda useless for non-swordies with the exception of astute and Trigger Slash. But you do raise a standard thing for staves. They're supposed to be 2handed as well.

well, I don't know if the sword skill will be useful for other weapon or not, but at least it too balancing out.

And, I don't know what kind of Idea you have now. If not related with sword hybrid, I thinks it'll just same as STR Staff+sub hybrid.
same p.atk growth. better weapon base attack. better appearance maybe :p. what else?

Just putting my 2 cents in this jar.

I believe that the design philosophy considering bows is based on your Bow/Crossbow having it's own stand alone quiver of arrows. Hence why you can use all of your bow skills without a "arrow" in your sub slot. It's also nifty to note that you have different kinds of arrow designs for each bow, but that's a side note. The arrows that go into your sub slot are actually just another quiver replacing your standard quiver.

I'd also like to note something to those that haven't used a bow in real life before. More often than not, the hand you draw your arrows with is free if your not firing the bow. Effectively making it a one-handed weapon until you knock the arrow.

Everything else weapon design wise (not balance wise) makes conceptual sense pertaining to all of the weapons though. 2 handed swords are too fat to fit a shield, quiver, knuckles, or whatever else you'd put on your back. Staffs are light weight casting devices comparible to Maces or 1h swords. Magic Devices become fully active when your focusing only on it as opposed to using a staff and using it as a casting speed aid. Arrow throwing....sure...

That's just my 2 cents on the matter from an asthetic standpoint though.

All valid points, but I'd like to note that, at least for magic devices, the fact you can use it as a subweapon and then not have a subweapon when you use it as a main weapon kind of breaks that design.

As for your comments on 2h, yes, they all make sense and I didn't care up to this point, but as you've noted(probably unaware) is that Toram's aesthetic logic is a little flawed(the arrow throwing for one). A lot of the sword skills are also performed one handed with a 2hand(probably lazy design, but still). Fitting a shield or knuckles at the side shouldn't be too difficult. Lol

magic devices require your hands to be free, because you have to flap with your arms to to float and when you attack, you are holding a magic whip or magic claws, so the hands are occupied. when using it as a sub-weapon, it is only active for magic skills. at this time you store your main weapon and only use the magic device.
1h swords and knuckles are small, so you can store them beneath the device. 2h swords are to big, so you can't carry them together with a device.

i have not actively played with 2 handed swords, but i always envy their superior ATK values when i see one.
for the mage tree i noticed that the tree has 2 branches for missile and area magic.
the area magic branch is more effective for device users because of their area bonus, so i guess that staffs benefit missile magic in some way.
then i guess that the 2 branches in the sword tree have a similar design for 1h and 2h swords.
it was already proven that there are invisible stats and that some stats have invisible effects as well (like STR raising critical damage).
since all and every description of anything in this game is so vague and unspecific, there are lots of possibilities that we don't know about or maybe even can't imagine, because they are so occult and not-mainstream that we can't guess it.
    (just a theory ...)

    Just enjoy the game.

Suggestion from player will just make the game more complicated and weird. Not all player agree with your whining. If your complaint heard by dev then another complaint will be send, there is no end for this.
Do you want this game will become something like soccer spirit.
Every week is nerf a card, every week is buff a card. I was hiatus only for only about 2 month and then when I online, I forgot how my last deck work lol.

    Stop whining about game design.
Trust the developer, if you still don't like.
Leave it, then make your own game.

    An excellent point.
Gandalf dual wielding Staff/Longsword comes to mind.
    Good thoughts on the M.Dev.

If we where to have a 1H that looks like a 2h that would be fine. Say if they have the attack of sabre of those 1H 2H look alike it would actually equal to a single 2H weapon.
    ( did I just confused you? )

I hate it as well, we could put a buckler or a shoulder armor on and be fine but they'll never implement it.

Using MD as main, both hands are free. So free that they just float in the air. Yet, no sub allowed either. The animation of bowgun clearly shows both hands are being used,

I can see 2h not compatible with shield, but I don't see why they can't put the sword back on their back while they throw a dagger, or why a MD cannot fit onto their backs.

Would be nice if the element changed, but not the case...

We could still have a wrist buckler or even a gauntlet would be cool.

what about "sub-armor" that goes into the sub-weapon slot and can also be used with 2h weapons because it is not a weapon.
obviously it shouldn't be too strong. maybe half or a third of the power of a sub-weapon.
something like a bandage or arm guard. and it should be invisible, like daggers, so that it doesn't mess up the armor appearance.
but if 2h weapons are designed to hold the combined power of weapon and sub-weapon, this would be unfair, so an alternative would be an "adventurer" skill tree with skills that buff your equipment. so that instead of learning more skills for sub-weapons and use 2 weapons, you learn a mastery skill to improve your 2h weapon. the result should be similar.
