Best support skill: Gloria, protection, aegis or sanctuary?

As the title states, which skill is the best buff for defence? And which one helps most in support rank too

U practically chose almost all bro... and yes I am a mage but I only have enough sp for either Gloria itself or Protection and Aegis only

 

Come on guys, you all know that the best support skill is... FIRST AID!
More seriously, it's very hard to choose, because (almost) all of these have their uses. Protection and Aegis can help against the boss' main damage source. Sanctuary can almost nullify low damage. Gloria is meh.
The best skill to get Support rank though is Bless: easy to spam and cheap on MP.

 

does protection and aegis add up to support point? because if im not wrong these 2 skills should outperform gloria and sanctuary in a longer battle.... but i may be wrong hahaha

 

Well, sorry to break it to you, but Support rank is borked. Yes, they both add up, but:
- Game only counts how many skills you used and how much they do affect your party. That means spamming a support skill will outperform using only 2 long lasting spells.
- One First Aid > Any Support skill, even when spammed to oblivion.

 

I got all 3 for my DPS mage, not yet maxed tho.. but if you really lack the sp I'd suggest Gloria

 

Protection and Aegis at Lv10 last 10 minutes, so they get the most points for support rank.
they increase physical or magical resistance by 50% and reduce the other by 25%.
this is most effective on strong attacks like red zones.

Gloria triples DEF, MDEF and increases Guard Rate of shields.
it is most effective on standard attacks (you can reduce damage to 1) and for shield users.

Sanctuary reduces damage by 10% of a player's maxHP.
it has limited range and duration, but can make you almost invincible if your HP is high enough.

my 1h arrow can tank Jade nmare + super rare bec of sanctuary.

Next is prot n aegis. resistance affect damage taken. than DEF.

gloria comes last bec not all ppl rely on guard rate.

if your objective is to get support rank. just do manual bless spam. and do it in short run bosses.

 

If you max protection and aegis that's a good 10mins of magical and physical resistance.
Also with Gloria in affect because of the increase in guard. Your tank will surely be grateful

 

I'm trying to take these because I have balance MP for my dps mage.... don't really want to waste so much time spaming bless
I think sanctuary would be out for me cos my maximum hp can only push to around 3k max....
So it's between Gloria and aegis/protection now.... still a little confused

 

I tested it protection and aegis are 30% and -15% as positive and negative respectively.
About @iceTRAP your question hands down protection and aegis are better as support buffs than gloria, 30% resistance is like 30% reduction regardless while def/mdef boost has a complex formula which no one has able to find out but i can assure you the dmg reduction from gloria will never match the reduction from resistance boost.
Besides gloria only lasts for 30sec.
So go for maxing protection and aegis.

 

did you have them at lv10?
also when both are active at the same time it's 25% to both resistances.

that depends on the attack.
if you get hit for 1000, then 50% resistance will cut it down to 500.
if your def is 300, Gloria will make it 900, so all attacks that hit for 900 or less will do only 1 damage.

resistance is almost ineffective on standard attacks, but it's very useful against strong moves like Demon Gate's magic spells.
def and mdef are included in the damage calculations and linked to atk and matk. super strong moves, like red zones, have high multipliers, so they are still strong, but normal attacks can be nullified with good def/mdef.

Golden Skeleton uses lots of normal attacks and very fast. Protection doesn't help much here, but a good def stat and Gloria makes you almost invincible.

Gloria is most effective on heavy armored characters who have naturally high defenses, but low dodge and evasion.
resistance is better for light armored characters who have naturally low defenses.

 

Where did u read about the 900 def part? Cause if that's the case most character can reach 300 def... which means that with Gloria most of them would only be receiving 1 dmg from most attacks... in this case Gloria would usually be better right?

 

Yes i tested with no resistance gears protection reduced exactly 30% dmg and aegis increased exactly 15% dmg from gs atks

And no that will never happen you can ask @BK. too
If i increase 42def gs auto will only reduce like 5dmg dmg reduction as def scale is very low when compared to resistance
Even if i use gloria and get 2k def gs will still do around 50dmg
Toram system doesnt work like your typical rpgs
Resistance too its effect starts to diminish after we reach more than 50% resistance but for 50% it will reduce 50% dmg regardless.
I have been testing dmg reduction (both stats and skills) for quite a while never did i experience high def as useful.

 

No it wont u can test yourself check dmg from gs check dmg before using buff and check dmg after using buff.
I can guarantee you protection will reduce more dmg than gloria.
Even reduction per second will be more since protection is longer than gloria.
