Tank Suggestions to Lv150~

    Hi guys ^^/ I just wanted some suggestions on allocating the rest of my skill points :3

    Here's the build as is right now~

    Full Vit(Maxed), Rest MTL(74)
    MaxHP-22179, MaxMP-826, Def-906, MDef-319

    Zahhak Sword+6
    Zahhak Shield+6
    Holy Robe+8(HP,vit,aggro)
    Charm Belt+6
    Toughness Bangle

    I "might" have the spinas to do something about better equipment but likely not x3

    Here's my current skill list, I have 1 free sp right now and not sure where i wanna put it x.x

    Blade Skills: Hard hit 5, Astute 5, Trigger slash 5, Sword mastery 5, Quick slash 5, warcry 1
    Magic Skills: Mp charge 1
    Guard Skills: Heavy armor mastery 5, Advanced guard 5
    Survival skills: Safe rest 5, Fighters high 10, HP boost 10, Short rest 5, MP boost 10
    Support Skills: Mini heal 5, Recovery 5, Sanctuary 10
    Shield Skills: Shield mastery 5, Shield bash 10, Force shield 5, Protection 10, Aegis 10, Guardian 10
    Knight Skills: Assault 5, Parry 5, P.defense 10, Provoke 5

    Combo: 1.5/2mp(not sure xD) Astute>Shield Bash(con)>Saanctuary(save)>Guardian(con)>Hard Hit(con)
    CP LEFT=(0/8)

    Anyways thats im working with right now :3 it's not really struggling anywhere except against fatal damage x.x lol. Any suggestions are welcome. Not sure if i wanna max out guard skill or finish shield for mdef, branch into magic or go priest for gloria maybe...IDK lel, give me ideas x3

    You need more crit, ampr and aggro
    -for crit usually its toy hammer, 100crit is a must
    -for ampr: decoy, rampage or trigger slash
    -for aggro personally I use berserk and warcry but its up to you
    -sukuchi is recommended

    refine all your equipment at least +C,also fighter high and guard skill is useless.

    heavy armor mastery adds 10% guard rate at lv10.
    advanced guard adds 5% guard rate and 5% guard power, but guard power from heavy armor is negated when wearing a shield.
    better not get that skill and put the 5 points in armor mastery instead.

    provoke can't be used in combo, it is best at lv10. lower levels have higher mp cost with less effect.

    without DEX you need some critical rate to hit. critical damage is mostly useless since your stats don't raise your atk.

    fractional barrier would be very effective with your hp. besides p.def it's the only thing that can help you against fatal damage.

    the oni garb and horns would be good for, but if you didn't get them, you have to wait until next year. so look for something else.

    Skills wise, with pdef, sanctuary and guardian, you're probably fine now until 150. Save the next SP for Berserk and Decoy when they become available then.

    Would also definitely advise to farm that toy hammer sword (for 100% crit) like the other guys said.

    If you don't plan on resetting, the skills are alright. If you don't get meteor breaker yet then I suggest you to take it, 600 aggro generator with dizzy ailment to help your party

    For gears, you can get armors with %resistance stats such as lil empress garb, brigandine, etc
    Imperial shield is great for the magic resistance. As for swords, toy hammer is the standard, but you can also use various swords and have decent crit if you take meikyo shishui(+40 crit). There are many interesting swords such as festival sword(+500mp and 10 ailment resist), butcher's knife(+20 ampr), and many more. Its quite costly though so you might want to reset the unnecessary skills such as provoke line skill tree, fighter's high and mp boost(15 sp for 300 mp isn't that great for a tank tbh)

    Guard skills aren't that good either since you get plently of guard rate from guardian, plus guard is not all that useful either if you don't have high guard power. Better max the resistance skills of the shield tree instead.

    The meta tank currently are max ailments resist tanks with decoy shot. Though we can cap 2 stats in near future so its still okay to max out the Vit. Its still annoying to see a tank that gets knocked back a lot because of the lack of ailment resist, though

    Thanks for the suggestions guys ^^ Was aware of the sword(np is my kryptonite) Wasn't aware of guard being useless with shield x.x that kinda sucks lol That's what i have all of you for x3 thanks again

    Yea x.x I prioritized vit to make use of sanctuary asap and didn't realize just how vulnerable i was to statuses xD

    Ah one more thing to ask all of you :3 the meta bowgun tank seems really popular and that was suggested to me more than a few times. So seeing as how i will be completely rebuilding my tank(more than likely) in the near future i was wondering what your thoughts were on bowgun tank vs 1hand w/ shield tank in terms of pure tanking ability for parties????

    Bowgun pros:
    -Decoy shot have your Bowgun's range so you don't have to recast it as much as 1h tank
    -arm break's lethargy will reduce the damage taken
    -also because of arm break, you can have a higher burst aggro
    -can use moeba and paralysis shot for the ailments

    Bowgun cons:
    -can't use trigger slash for the motion speed bonus and ampr
    -doesnt have 100% flinch from hard hit
    -can't shukuchi right in front of the boss
    -lack of multiple target skills

    Ohs pros:
    -its cooler
    -you actually wield your shield instead of keeping it on your back
    -100% flinch from hard hit
    -has multiple target aggro generator with meteor break and bind strike, plus the dizzy ailment and stop
    -has access to trigger slash for the bonuses
    -can shukuchi right in front of the enemy

    Ohs cons:
    -doesnt have long ranged decoy
    -no lethargy from arm break

    Both have their respective weapons with various useful stats

    I think Yunan summarized the pros and cons of bowgun tank and 1 hand sword tank tho when it comes to "effectiveness" specially anti melee bosses are common nowadays and will be added more in the near future. Bowgun TANK has the upperhand.

    Spikes are everywhere, waves are everywhere. Those attacks are too much for a 1 hand tank to handle later on. Instant fractional waves coming from boss can lead you to death sometimes, spikes has ridiculous slow effect(except tanks with 100% ailment resists).These factors will determine the effectiveness between these two different tanks when we put preferences aside.

    On the other hand, just stick to the class you are comfortable playing with. ^^/ not all people likes to play bowgun tank anyway. The choice is yours between ''preference" and "effectiveness".

    I still find bow/bowgun gae .xD Still, I am afraid of spikes and waves atm so bowgun tank for now haha.

    Sadly, yeah. Bowgun's range is too versatile. Its more because of decoy's ampr rather than aoe's and spikes itself though. As long as you have mp, you can survive any aoe with sanctuary and p.def, hence Bowgun tank prevails. Also with trig slash+swift tag you can deploy sanctuary continuously without gap between each cast. You can also do long range tanking with sword tank if you take power wave but the decoy would still have short range, but you can still compensate it somewhat with Ampr bonuses from trigger slash(20), rampage(25), butcher's knife(20), or 3rd anniv sword VII(10)

    i heard it's super slow and leave you vulnerable tho. I was learning about bowgun tank and thought of that as well but friends said it exposes you.

    Maybe make it interchangeable between 1h n bowgun? I currently have a 1h tank. Just by using moeba and smash stargem for combo opener make me able to use bg for ranged decoy. Didn't have burst aggro combo tho because i don't take the middle tree on Shot Skill yet. Tested it with guidmate and i found it useable.

    Revive bump* would like some suggestions again and some understanding of the skill rampage as i can't seem to find much on it.
    Currently Full MTL>VIT
    I have toy hammer(finally lol) but still like the use of rampage with trigger slash for constant ampr. Also i left Trigger slash at 5 will it get bonuses if i up it to 10? Basically same question with rampage or is it ok being left at 1?

    The other thing is i plan to take decoy at 150(no im not there yet >~> im lazy) and after that i was wondering if i should aim for armbreak or finale(aggro purposes) next?

    That's about it no other questions really. I reset the tank itself about 7 times xD Went back to old toram tanking style and tho easier for me i realized would be 1-2 hittable later so went back to meta style~ Also tried bowgun .... not for me. I know what equipment i need yet so that's no longer an issue either. I just need the xtals and arm other than that i have my bangle and toyhammer and i prefer the charm belt for now. May switch it all up to the mushroom cap/eye patch and other resistant equips later for maximum effect.

    Edit: oh i still have sanctuary although now useless with my significantly lower hp.... ran out of resets
    2nd Edit: I don't care about decoy being short range with 1h tank that's easily taken care of with sh...(mononofu skill/spelling~) and recasting(assuming i can recast decoy immediately)
    3rd Edit: If anyone's curious as to the entirety of the build as it is now just ask ill post it but thought it unnecessary for this one
    4th Edit:...is arm break even worth taking still for a 1h?
