Blacksmith Help!

Hi guys, so i recently leveled a blacksmith to lvl 100!!! (Yay for mmh)
I have a question regarding tech for a UPGRADE+REFINE smith.
I dont care for potential so i didnt put any points into careful creation, however, im not sure if the lack of this skill will affect anything else?

Anyways, so with 250 points into tech i have a difficulty lvl of 130 (prof lvl 4). When i attempted to do a c1010107 upgrade it worked. I havent tried refining yet but i assume it will work as well. My question is do i have to increase my prof level at all? I only have lvl 4 prof but i was able to upgrade and (assuming) i am able to refine as well. So is there any point in crafting and upping my prof level? Also, did i do the right thing in putting 250 tech into a REFINE+UPGRADE smith?

No need for a upgrade, refined smith. Proficiency is for crafting smiths since they have to increase their difficulty level

 

Wait, so there is no point in putting tech into a refine/upgrade smith?...

 

Tec is the only thing to put in a statter refiner. There's no need to level proficiency.

 

Oh i see thanks a lot. Woukd you mind explaining how tech affects success rate? Is there a formula? Just curious

Thanks for the replies! I havent seen that guide yet so now i understand.
As fow how to put c1010107, i dont think i am allowed to tell, or it is a taboo to speak about it because all the other guides dont mention it despite its popularity. So, all i can say is experiment with your blacksmith!!!

Which skills do you mean exactly, because tech is for being statter AND refiner, I don't know what you mean by upgrade because I keep forgetting skills name xd
Edit: you don't need careful creation as a tech bs , since you will only refine and put stats to weps? Not create equipment.
Edit 2: yes you done all right, remember refiner and statter only, I made my tech bs an alch too I hope I will get enough skillpoints.

 

Will putting dex on my equips affect success rate? Or is that only for difficulty?

yes it increases difficulty level
higher difficulty, higher success rate

 

But by that definition, increasing prof level would also increase succes rate for refine and statting because prof ups difficulty level...

no it would not... success rate for customizing is fixed based consumed pot over total pot of the equipment
and refine rate success is based on amount of tec, refine equipment skill lvl, midclass refine lvl and high class refine lvl
difficulty applies only to "craft equipment"
