1 day newbie. Need help

Hey everyone. Only been 1 day since playing this game and my dumb self needs help. So I'm mostly focusing on the main quest and I'm stuck in the part where I'm supposed to find materials for the purification incense. There's fairy feather, thick beak and vines. So question- am I overlooking some options where it is made known which monster I have to slay or do I have to figure it out myself?
And also I'm using longsword as my weapon. Are there other weapons better than that? Please enlighten me and also thank you in advance.

 

At quest description there is a button to find materials, there you'll be able to find where materials can be found. Use the map (under menu tab) to guide yourself.

There are indeed better weapons, but focus your quest, finish it completely with help of mercenaries.

 

As the quest items related question was already answered above, lemme add a friendly tip. You better join a guild ASAP, as being in a guild brings many benefits to help you getting to know Toram, at least until you can be self sufficient by owning production class(es). What? My guild? No no. My guild was made exclusively by me, to me, and for me, so that I can send farmed material items to my alt accounts without having to massive scroll downs in my friendlist choosing the target account. the item search only shows the first (lowest level) occurrence of the searched item, not necessarily the best place to get it.

you can get the fairy feathers for this quest in the Ruined Temple, but if you like exploring they are easier to get in Zodtzka Ruins.

for better weapons, visit the blacksmith in town and see what he can make.
new recipes become available as your level increases.
