can it compete with traditional class build in term of dps?

 

Since the release of the whole assassin tree. Yes, it can, if you are positioned correctly. But it isn't an easy class to use for dps compared to traditional classes (katana, Halberd, DW, 2H) as it has no skills that are boosted by attack power and 1h main attack influences the damage of dagger/assassin skills.

You get some benefits from 1h dagger such as motion speed and ampr buffs. But these don't always help bridge the game, as you'll need to be close to the boss, that is hard in some circumstances.
