About Barehanded with subs?

Does the default 50% hit apply for barehanded with a sub? I wanna know if I can take advantage of shield passive while being barehanded w/ shield sub.

I though barehand no sub needed or not available at all.

 

I don't mean to use with barehanded skill just the property of it being able to hit 50% of the time. I am planning to use it if possible with defender mercenary. I have tried equipping my merc with shield only no weapon and it hits like barehanded but not sure about the 50% hit of being barehanded?

 

50% minimum hit rate is a trait of the weapon type. you get it just by equipping no main weapon. no conditions, no required skills.

 

Yes you can. But stat like guard don't trigger on merc.

 

I know that guard don't trigger on merc... What I mean by passive skills are the Force Shield and the magical shield skill which increases max HP, DEF and MDEF, the stats which are beneficial for defender merc (mainly the HP tho since every little bits of HP helps)
