I have finally completed my 100% ailment resistance tank and have been enjoying using it a lot recently. The power to resist every ailment is incredibly strong. No stun, flinch, tumble, etc. My tank is a little bit...different from the ones you've probably seen before, although similar overall. I will explain my choices later, don't worry.
    Stats:
    MTL: 255
    VIT: 183

    Blade Skills: level 4
    Hard hit - 10
    Astute - 5
    Trigger Slash - 10
    Rampage - 10
    Sword Mastery - 5
    Quick Slash - 5 (10)
    War Cry - 5
    Berserk - 1 (10)

    Survival Skills: level 2
    Safe Rest - 5
    HP Boost - 10
    Short Rest - 5
    MP Boost - 10

    Support Skills: level 4
    Mini Heal - 5
    Recovery - 10

    Shield Skills: level 4
    Shield Mastery - 5 (10)
    Shield Bash - 10
    Force Shield - 10
    Magical Shield - 10
    Protection - 10
    Aegis - 10
    Guardian - 10

    Shot Skills: level 4
    Shot Mastery - 5
    Long Range - 5
    Quick Draw - 5 (10)
    Decoy Shot - 10

    Knight Skills: level 3
    Assault Attack - 5
    Parry - 5
    Perfect Defense - 10

    Mononofu Skills: level 4
    Bushido - 5
    Shukuchi - 1
    Two handed - 5
    Meikyo Shisui - 1

    Dual Sword Skills: Level 3
    Dual Sword mastery - 5
    Reflex - 5
    Flash Blast - 1

    Priest Skills: Level 1
    Holy Fist - 1

Here is where I will explain my usage of skills like Meikyo Shisui and Flash blast, and my choice to add decoy shot. This tank is built to hold aggro using not only guardian, but with support-type skills. Meikyo and Flash blast, being classified as support type skills, can be casted from any range, from anywhere. They will generate aggro on every target on the map that is targeting your party members, they are also no limit, so they can be used with any weapon. This tank can use both an ohs, and a bowgun, or a staff as a weapon and still be able to hold aggro. That is why I have decoy shot. Not only does it help recover mp while I'm using a bowgun, but it's great for bosses who don't move much. Most of the time, bosses don't move as long as the tank doesn't move so decoy is really useful. The primary weapon of this build, however, is a one-handed sword and shield.

    Combos!
These are almost always my favorite parts of writing guides. Combos are so much fun and there are so many combinations of skills to use that are versatile in so many different situations. I will list some basic ones I've been using here. The thing about combos is that different ones are useful for many different situations, especially for tanks. No one set of combos will work everywhere. Experiment on your own with the skills you have to find what works at different bosses! You'll have a lot of fun. These are just some examples.

    For all weapons:
200 mp - Long Range Aggro Generator:
Flash Blast > Berserk (save) > Meikyo (swift) > War Cry (swift)

200 mp - Long Range Guardian Setup:
Meikyo Shisui > Guardian (save) > War cry (smite)

200 mp Long Range Decoy Shot setup:
Meikyo Shisui > Berserk (save) > Decoy Shot (swift) > Astute (swift)

    Short Range stun/Aggro generator
200 mp - Shield Bash > Berserk (save) > War Cry (smite)

    For Ohs/Shield
200 mp - Short Range Guardian Setup:
Trigger Slash > Guardian (save) > War cry (smite)

    100 mp - Rampage Setup
Astute > Berserk (save) > Rampage (swift)

100 mp - Trigger Slash ampr setup
Meikyo Shisui > Berserk (save) > War cry (swift) > Trigger Slash (swift)

    Equipment
Tanks have a large variety of different equipments to use. It's interesting to look into all the different possibilities, but some of the great ones out right now, I will list here.
Keep in mind you are not locked into these equips, there are many, many options.

    Ohs:
    Toy Hammer (EMS/NM POTUM)
This thing is so, so good for tanks. 100 crit rate is just crazy good. NONE SHALL DENY THE TOY HAMMER
    Bowgun:
    Diver Bowgun (EMS/NM POTUM)
If you didn't farm the diving event, for diver's bowgun, don't give up hope! You can use Lil Empress' bowgun instead. This will not be quite AS good, but it works just fine for most bosses.
    Staff: (EMS/NM POTUM)

Vulcan Staff. This thing is incredible for magical bosses. Make sure it is the NPC version, the one with a whopping +24% magical resistance.

    Shield:
    Dark General's Shield (From Imitator)
This shield is just great. It is so strong overall, great stats for tanks all around, and the +30% aggro on it is wonderful.
3rd Anniv Shield VII (From 3rd Anniversary)
This one is similar to Dark General's shield, but it has an awesome fractional barrier stat, and a little bit of vit too.
    Imperial Shield (NPC version)
This shield is again, amazing for magical bosses.
    Vulcan Shield (Drops from Ifrid)
Use this shield while using Lil Empress' Bowgun, so you can get some bonus crit rate. The aspd helps too.

    Armor:
    Lil Empress Garb (
    Seraph Machina/Ifrid)
This thing is just incredible. Ampr, resistance stats, and an MP boost to top it all off. The minus aggro is not a problem for tanks. NOTE: DONT USE IT AT WATER BOSSES

    Brigandine (Seraph Machina/Ifrid)
Use this oldie but goodie NPC (or drop version if you can't seem to get a slot from the npc) against water bosses.
    Holy Robe (Seraph Machina/Ifrid)
This one is great too, amazing for dark element bosses, and for physical based bosses as well, or both!

    Additional Gear:
    Mushroom cap (Seraph Machina/Dusk Machina)
You need this for ailment resistance. The seraph machina is needed as well.

    Special Gear:
    Dark Fighter Bangle (
    Tapir/Deniala)

NOTE: You can use an ailment resist +5% avatar stat to replace the Seraph Machina's. Then you can replace them with any crysta's you'd like.

Lil empress' Garb is better these days than twilight dress, the only reason we used to use it was because brigandine with it's 25% resistance to magic and physical attacks also had that horrible loss of resist against light and dark bosses. Now we can use lil empress garb at light and dark bosses without any negative downsides.

    Great job bro!
Thought ill be seeing new skills thou:( hehhehehe
75% ailment = not so bad imo.i still like seeing what the boss can do to me via ailment. Idk.... So i can still understand what my pt members feels while getting ailments.
And..i always try to save as much sp that i can save on my build. Coz buying gems are cheaper than buying books of obli hehhee.
The variation of tanks and builds really amazes me.
And dnt forget your promise hahaha
And about what you said about combos....tbh im trying to use mine on all boss or minis. Same combo setup but will change skill if sensitive..laziness in me strikes again hahhaa

Some suggestion that will save you sp:

Remove Flash Blast and replace it with Sneak attack Level 1. Don't worry as it's only at level 1 so 1 normal attack takes care of the Sneak counter.

Change your Long Range Aggro Combo to this:

    Meikyou>Berserk(save)>Warcry(cons)>Sneak Attack(swift)

11 sp Vs. 1 sp though this is a little slower by around 0.5+ seconds or so.

Also the Anniversary VII Staff NPC version has 20+% physical resist I think.

I used to use sneak attack but I got rid of it, I really don't like the animation, even when swifted. I am not looking to save any skill points, there's nothing to use them on anyway right now.
I do appreciate the feedback though, didn't know that about the anniv staff, sad we can't get it anymore

Have you ever tried Kairiki, if the self burn would be nullified by 100% ailment resist(25 extra AMPR is very tempting)?

Probably not but you never know.

Red Tear's Bleed and Explosion's Stun can't be negated by ailment resist.

Also, one thing I noticed. 100% ailments resist is way better than, let's say, 96%.
I'm using Yummy chicken(12% ailments resist, 1 ampr, 3% vit, +6% aggro) plus 9% resist from avatars. Still gets flinched/ knocked back from time to time.

If you don't mind not having max crit from toy hammer. You can also use festival sword(+500mp, 10% ailments resist) to get max resist. The event will end soon so the recipe. So get one for yourself asap~

Finpen wetsuit and finpen mask is great against water ele bosses, together they both give 40% HP and 40% water resistance as well as 40% anticipate, which means less evade and dodged attacks from bosses lol, I was about to do lvling for my bowgun tank at amoeba machina just now but I remembered I'm still wearing lil empress garb xD, so I hurriedly crafted the summer event limited finpens. I suggest for those who haven't yet to craft the finpens since they're going away from the npc soon

Does ele resist affect fractionals? I once test out amoeba attacks and it hits really, really hard. But most of them are fractional attacks

    Sonic wave(10) = 75%
    Impact(10) = 65%

Nope, only your HP, Equipment Refine, and Fractional barriers affect it.

There is no need to tumble in 90% of situations, stun is better almost all of the time. Tumble inflict rate is unreliable unless you are using knuckles. Now there IS enough sp left here to get sonic wave and you can switch to knuckles (drills) as weapon for a much better inflict rate. But I've found it's almost never needed.

Some bosses have higher than 100% ailment inflict rates, this makes them not care even if you're at 99% ailment resist. The 100% is absolute though, so nothing to worry about

I am using Ampr to restore mp, not mp charge or any other methods, so I can't use something without at least a decent amount of crit rate. Toy Hammer is needed to use Ampr, and to interrupt bosses. Tanks hardly need more Aggro% anyway to hold Aggro, it's usually doable with 30% or less.
