Supports are nice but really unnecessary in toram, why? Because of their skill set, usually supports gives buff and debuff. In toram they do give buff, but most of the buff they give are unecessary. Defensive buff? No need, people just dodge everything anyway. Offensive buff? Dps can get much better stat from equips.

So my suggestion is support skills should be buffs/debuffs that you can only get from support. So I think they should add support skills that buff damage, crit damage, or maybe crit rate. For debuffs I think they should add -def on enemies or something like that, we even have a monster stability debuff right now wth. The point here is most of the support skills really does nothing or just unecessary, supports should make the dps begging for their buffs, making their party stronger, safe, have an easy life.

I guess I should ask, what would count as a pure support?

The main reason why I'm asking is this: If a dps or tank can use support skills, why would anyone want a pure support in their party for just buffs/debuffs? Cmiiw, but most supports don't just buff/debuff, but they also usually help with MP/proration or first aid. For example, I usually use brave aura & high cycle for my mage for more Dps. I also know some (rare?)tanks that actually use dance skills while also tanking. I don't think your suggestion is bad, it's that in a game where we're not class locked, I feel like that might actually backfire and keep supports in the same spot.

I actually think the ministrel skills might be the closest answer to that. Like rework some of the song effects with like you said, buffs or debuffs(& maybe even just the stack times tbh.) With that, it could stay mostly unique to support builds since the moment you do anything other than Ad Lib, you risk losing the buff/debuffs you're currently using. Though I'm curious what the in development magic device skill tree will do...
