For every Crysta or piece of equipment that I select for Magic Pierce, I have to give up something that increases MATK. Is there a particular Magic Pierce to shoot for vs. Magic Attack? Currently with the setup I have tested on Coryn Club I can get up to about 5500 MATK. Without avatars, food buffs, etc. Just equipment, stats, and skills.

In order to effectively compare matk vs magic pierce we would need to know bosses' mdef, but that info isn't available for most bosses. Tho, trying some builds on coryn, I found that 46% mpierce is achievable with 5k MATK.
From 5k to 5.5k MATK, finale damage increase is just 6.25%, while 46% mpierce definitely has greater impact on high-level high-diffucult bosses.

Yeah, I'm just running off the fact that people keep telling me to add Iron Empress to my armor. So Magic Pierce is supposedly generally a useful stat, but not at the expense of too much MATK. Mind linking me to the build you made? Or giving me a rough run down of what it had.

How do you find that finale damage from 5k to 5.5k only goes up 6.25%? I use toramonline forums and Coryn club, but I can't find information with exact calculations like that. And the stat simulator on Coryn doesn't seem to show how much a individual skill would damage, just auto attack.

I didn't save the build, but it was a random 2s build using all mpierces items i could think (no buffs and avas): Armasite, Iron Empress, Devil Hood (add) and Eidenliebe. No mpierce stat on either weapon or armor.
Finale formula (staff): (3000+MATK)*(37.5+int/100) (u can find it here, on amino or jp toram wiki)
Previous value: 5k, Newer value: 5.5k
    Relative dmg increase: Newer/Previous = ((3000+5500)*40)/((3000+5000)*40)) = 1.0625
Which means newer finale damage is 1.0625x greater than older value, or 6.25% greater.
@edit: This formula is just for first hit. Since more MATK has higher impact on lower skill constant (2nd and 3rd hits), it'll be a bit more greater than 6.25%, but definitely not much since 1st hit overshadows damage froms 2nd and 3rd hits.

If mob MDEF is 1000, 46% only reduce the MDEF to 54%, which also mean increase your MATK+460. 5.5K MATK finale still better than it. And for most mob in normal and hard mob only have around 500-700 Def/MDEF. Beside MATK+ is easy to get due to MATK gain from INT using staff is higher, and MP only can get from gear.

of course if you aim for NM or UM, the 46% MP would be the best, but please remember that some mob Def/MDEF will reduce when the parts is break, so is better you prepare 2 set of equipment, one is MATK+ and another one is MPierce+ .

    it's an expensive build really.

armasite, shampy, devil's hood, eidenliebe, iron empress can come up to 51% m.pierce and is the most balance between matk and m.pierce i can think of.

the question is how much x% of m.pierce can be considered equal to y% of MATK ?

    (ex : 1% MATK = 5% m.pierce something)

knowing something like that will make it easier to understand.

So 50% Magic Pierce seems to be roughly what produces the most damage?

If you're not using burst its not that much of a difference, really.

Is Burst currently higher damaging in more situations than Finale? It seems to me most people are still focusing on finale.

Cause finale simpler and cheaper at mid-level budget. Burst can be more powerful overall but you need to have way more resources compared to finale atm. In the future though, if nothing major changed, Burst have more scalability compared to finale. Atm, the best damage output of a continuously spammed skill would still be finale, with the new stat released, it packs more punch due to the 20% elemental damage. While magic pierce is certainly helpful for finale, burst has more potential due to it being benefitted from not only elemental advantage and magic pierce, but also long range and short range damage.

Finale is more or less on its bottleneck now. Its generally impractical compared to most physical class damage dealer. With CF being a way better ranged damage dealer overall. But as there's still some bosses with gimmicks that requires magic attack, its still kinda relevant. The ideal composition would be to use both together. The hard part of magic:burst build is to get enough cspd to shorten the cast time.

I believe Finale out damages Burst not too sure. Also burst is impractical because you need to either have high cspd or use some magic skills before casting to get the cast time low.

Finale outdamages Burst without investment, with investment they both deal around the same damage.
Burst is generally used when you have other skills to use to deal good damage, using it as a soft of free extra high magic prorated damage. Such as with Impact > DPS or with magic fillers (proration) in combos. MD Swords and Knuckles enjoy having a fully prorated Burst up their sleeve if they invested into it.
