So I'm building my first production class and through having a friend carry me and using NC I have leveled to 55 without spending any skill or stat points which is a blessing as I'm slightly torn. I can't decide if I should turn the first production class I do into a blacksmith to fund my refiner, stater, alchemist build or if it would be more effective to fund a Smith build with the hybrid as there are more options to make money. What would you do in this situation and why? all input welcome!

I'd prioritize bs tech(stater, synth and refiner). Once you get extra character slot and funds, you can create bs for crafting.

Crafting smiths can be used earlier (at lower levels) but can take a lot of time to level your proficiency enough to craft the latest gear. Also, gathering the mats for crafting can take a lot of time, and even a successful craft can give you less money than you spent on getting the mats. Only a really great craft can earn you profit now.

Tech smiths have a lot of functions. You can start refining and synthing potions and such quickly but refining depends largely on your own luck, it can make you or break you. Stating is pretty much useless unless you level your character to cap because people primarily only want the highest stats, and that will cost some $$ to reach.

I'd suggest tech smith because you can use it as an alch as well. Unless you are a hardcore mat farmer so you can farm all your craft mats fast, tech smith can get you a better flow of money.

that's what I was initially thinking, was just unsure if my train of thought was correct.
This was my general assumption I figured while learning to craft alot of items would be wasted and most things crafted would have no value, and require specific drops to craft that can be time consuming to obtain. Where as Tec character can has more skills to fall back on you can farm mats for potions and raise prof and make spina you can make or loose money via refinement, tho stating may not be the most beneficial till cap I'm sure there are a few players like myself looking for some 0-E or 0-D N's refines and some stats that are from a few caps ago and are now in the 150k-300k price range. As not everyone has millions to spend on gear. Then of course there's 3 lock and being able to app gear without blacksmith fees. Plus I figure if I have this much trouble deciding on what type of smith to do how long will it take to pick a main crafting stat and decide on the items I wanna make.....

Both are good options but the hybrid has more ways to earn spina plus im7 statting armor alone can make you 1m spina in as little as a day to as long as a week depending on how actively you do it but you'll need at least 150k spina to start this process which you can easily get in a day by selling revita or desired buff items.
