I'm new to smithing and I've seen some guides on YT but I want to make sure I'm doing things right because I don't want to mess up and waste reset books

I've put 255 pts to TEC but I still have 246 stat pts and 20 overcap stat pts remaining and I don't know where to allocate them. Can someone tell what's the best stat to put them? and should I put my 20 overcap pts to TEC? I want to make the most stat practical and smith/alch-focused build and I don't mind losing combat abilities since I have my own ways of leveling it.

P.S I'm also new to this forum, please let me know if there's already a thread about this but I'd like to keep this thread because there might still be questions that I wanna ask.

Welcome to the forums!. At best with tec stat alone it can go alchemist/statter/upgrader. Since tec is a personal stat, it cannot go beyond the 255 limit (as the current asobimo rule stating it so.). The extra stats is mostly used as an attack stat or vit for survivability. Nevertheless you be frowned upon in boss runs for leeching (sub-par damage= useless. Yup, it is a toxic environment out there sometimes)
In production views you can craft gears, again it be a bit lower quality but decent if you aim for single stat gears like armor(vit).
I am assuming that this char already hit lvl 200 for extra stats and all locked skills opened.

Then it's fine for me to ignore equipment creation and anvil skills? since I think crafter is supposed to be another character for best results right?

In my opinion, if you already putted 255 TEC, then the best would be either bs statter or synthesis
Then again, synthesis branch requires a lot of SP, which may hinder your experiences in some situation (which is why I separated syn char and statter char)
For that, I think it's best to make your bs/syn in to a VIT tanker, since you won't have to worry about damage, and not every bosses need MTL tank (e.g. Venena or Seele Zauga), and people tends to feel uneasy without tank so it's also somewhat needed by people unlike bs mage

    It's good
A piece of advice, you can make a whole new char for equipment creating (for the sake of maximizing potential outcome) + and another char for synthesis (both craft + lock) and bs ref (both require 255 TEC) like I do
    Neat, right?
