Can someone explain the Iruna and Toram storyline

I am a time traveler who played Iruna about a year or two before Toram came out and never really finished the game past that desert town and level 102 when I switched over to Toram. Now when I play the game and start my mq I honestly don't read the story and even when I do, get kind of lost. I heard Toram takes place 100 years after Iruna (which sucks meaning my awesome character on there is now dead I guess) but that's about it. Based off the cut scenes from both games, and just for fun, would anyone mind telling the lore and story of both games and the way they're connected?
