Can't refine my equipment with the player smith skill

Hi

My problem is explained on the title. It gives me the option to refine other equipment but not this specific one. I made the bow at the NPC blacksmith and wanted to refine it with the smith skill.
The same thing happens when I want to refine at the blacksmith.

 

Make sure you wear the equipment.

didn't know I had to actually equip it
