Hey, I started playing the game a few days ago and I am having a hard time with what I am supposed to do with my Halberd Build. All the research I've done just shows lvl 100+ Halberd Builds for (Newbie Halberds) when I am just lvl 57. I've seen Halberd Variations like Halberd Assassin, Impact Halberd, P. Ray Halberd, Halberd Sniper, etc....
I don't know if I am supposed to get to a much higher lvl before going with those builds or to start early with any of them. I have already maxed my P. Ray, Quick Aura and War Cry of Struggle but I don't know if there is a specific build for that or not. I also do not know what equipment I am supposed to be getting,
    I currently use
    - Heavy Spear
    - Diomedea Suit
    - Shaved Ice Hat
    - Beast Fang Talisman

    Please help a fellow Halberd user D;

That's because it's very easy to level up past 100. Newbie builds usually starts with tier 3 skills, and the new ones are using level 150+ builds as reference after the tier 4 skill upgrade to save skill points and not have to reset later on.

Since you have Punish Ray, you can go to Grand Buster Lance route. The idea is simple: Buster Lance becomes Grand Buster Lance if Punish Ray is active. In addition, Grand Buster Lance always crit lowering the chance of waste MP, refreshes Punish Ray stacks and costs only 1 MP. Since the skill costs low MP, you can tie it with another low MP cost skill like Reflex or Ad-lib. It is simple and quick, lowering your chance of death in battle. There is a distance penalty on the skill however, so using it close range will give better damage output.

This is merely my suggestion, so it's okay to wait for others to comment theirs.

that is because builds are more like an inspiration rather than a manual.
ultimately you are supposed to make your own.

for the build route, you should have an image of what you want your character to be.
once you've got that, you can raise stats and skills that fit with your idea and preferences.
how you raise them depends on the situation. so you have to fight many different enemies, try out all possible combo combinations, evaluate your characters battle performance and spend stat and skill points based on your needs.

equipment strongly depends on each other, and sometimes the situation.
new isn't always better, the stats have to match your build.
the addition of crysta can open up new options, so there's no definite formula to follow.
(for example if you add a crysta that increases maxMP you may not need to use that ring with maxMP so you could use a ring with different stats instead.)

My advice would be try to find a guild, and choose a good attacker mercenary (mage with matk more than 10k is ok) then be struggle to finish the latest main quest (choose easy mode in every time you fight a boss) and you will be around level 180. Noted that while you're levelling up through main quest you should not add any skills because if you add too much you may waste skill points. After you get to level 180 you should spend quite much time on researching these skills:
1/ Dragon Tooth. 100% physical pierce, which means you can forget about def of the boss
2/ Assassin stab. Cool build but I don't see many people use this build. Maybe because it's hard to attack from behind the boss when bosses are now have spike underground or move a lot. However you can try Shadow Walk
3/ Shadow Walk. As mentioned above, hard to explain you can search on Youtube for more info
4/ Soul Hunter. I would put this is the most popular build right now since it has a lot of DMG!
So, I would say those skills will make the build around them. And finally, after researching those you will find the right one for you.
P/s: I like assassin build anyway xD

as of this year i have exclusively mage characters, and i haven't unlocked tier 5 skills either, so i really know nothing more than what they said in the maintenance notice about this.

I'm all physical class, mostly brawlers, same old gears.

My Queen on the other hand are all mages, just like you.

Yep, they nerfed the damage. ^_^
