dps mage

hello
I'm making dps mage as my main. I've been researching whats a good sub but can't find a convincing answer.
Help me out share ur opinion.
whats best dps? And why?
1.arrow mage
2.dagger mage
3.md mage
4.shield mage

 

Shield, gives you survivability
MD, allows you to do resonance and quickly regen mp but has 30 second cooldown. The MD stats don't affect you in any way.
Arrow, not much use for it now,
Dagger, maybe Staff Assassin(?) not many builds about this, tbh but the stat bonuses are nice.

The new meta right now is int>str finale mage.
With staff md and racking up crit stats.

 

We still need 400% crit rate for magic crit right? im still confused?.?

 

Weaken Debuff from Element SLash can be used to boost Magic Crit Rate
Also, saying need 100Magic crit to always crit is thinking of Mage as a Physical class.
Physicals need crit to land a hit. Mage doesn't. It's just a chance for a big damage boost. Think of it like Whack on CF but the boost could be much higher than 20%

 

Dagger is good for solo as you can also do Physical Proration. Not very necessary when you're usually in pt, but it is useful at times such as when you're in a full mage or 3mage 1 tank pt.

 

You still need it for 100% crit, but you can use spell burst as a glorified whack

 

Element slash is not compatible with finale.
Weaken duration is only 5 second, can you finish your finale cast this quick?

The common approach is having crit stats by sacrificing flat int. For example im10cd20cr21 armor.

Sakura drawstring bag, kuzto, adaro give some crit boost too.

Resonance also give critical up to 75 crit if you are lucky. Reaching 200 crit is very possible.

 

oh that make sense coz finale doesn't need that much matk to begin with (high skill multiplier + low scalability) so sacrificing matk is definitely an option but what really makes me uncomfortable is that I need to change my build completely for a CHANCE to land a crit. Is that really worth it?

 

It's worth the trouble.
Your magic crit rate = crit*0.25
120 crit rate will give 30% chance to land magic critical.
Magic cdmg = (cdmg-100)*0.75+100
With 250 str you can get 240-250 cdmg easily, so your mcdmg will be around 210.
Thats 30% chance to land twice dmg.
If resonance hit the jackpot, the chance will become 50-50.
And str also give staff more stability. So if you are a finale mage that doesn't need high cspd, this build can be a good option.
