early archer combo ? (level 70ish)

any suggestions for an early archer combo? ()

current skills i have are:

I recommend getting a non-physical skill for your combo opener. These include but not limited to:

• Reflex (1MP, dual sword skill, 6 sp or from stargem)
• Meikyo Shisui (2MP, mononofu skill, you'll get this to lv5 later as you unlock the tier 4 for Kairiki)
• War Cry (3MP, blade skill, get this if you really want it)
• Magic: Impact (2MP, magic skill, you can learn Finale to act as a fast combo closer with this, but will put a dent in your skill points. Easy to build 1MP or 2MP combos with these, though)

Next, try getting at least one 1mp close-range skill to act as a combo ender. Use one or more of these in your combos:

• Kick (hunter skill, you'll automatically learn this for Satellite Arrow)
• Holy Fist (priest skill)
• Smash (knuckle skill)

Or you can buy the stargem(s) if you have enough spina.

After you completed the steps above, you want your DPS combos to more or less look like this:

Opener > main DPS skill (smite tag) > ender

For your current level and setup, the best and quick way to dish out damage is to repeatedly use smited Snipe. Example:

Reflex > Snipe (smite) > Kick (swift)​

This is the highest DPS combo for your lvl if you can manage your MP.
No, Kick won't activate as long as you're not in range of the target, so the combo will almost always cost you 5 MP.

If you want lower MP cost with lower DPS, try this 1mp Snipe combo:

Reflex > Magic: Impact (save) > Snipe (Smite) > Kick (swift)​

As you may have noticed, all of my suggested combos only consist of no more than 4 skills in each. Keeping combos short will help you in the long run, due to later bosses having spammable AOE attacks and/or absurdly high movement/motion speed... which you will die to more often than not if your combos have like, 7 skills in them.

When you unlock tier 4 skills, you will have several better skills and options, but those combo setups I mentioned are for general use and will be serviceable for you, now and in the future.

Don't forget to save some skill points for Cross Fire and Decoy Shot. Adjust the combos accordingly when you get them.

 

Moeba Shot > Power Shot (swift)
fast and effective. you can use 'consecutive' to lower the cost but it will be slower then.
if you have enough combo points, add Fatal Shot (consecutive) as ender.
at this point it will cost no mp and the break time from Power Shot's Tumble will be extended.

Power Shot > Snipe (smite) > Fatal Shot (consecutive)
probably the cheapest high damage combo you can make of this.
you can charge Power Shot from 16m which allows you to move mid-combo as all other skills have shorter range.
Fatal as ender because Bullseye becomes ineffective with Armor Break and Moeba Shot's Slow can disable your chance to deal double damage when you use it in the other combo.

Arrow Rain > Bullseye (consecutive)
it looks cool, and there's nothing else left to do here

 

is it possible to make combos without those skills u suggested(other than hunter)? im aiming for a pure archer build.

i tried ur combo suggestions and made the combos above. except arrow rain. i dont know why i levelled it. it feels so lackluster

 

You don't want to use these combos if you want maximum damage output for your bow, there is something called "proration" in Toram where spamming the same type of attack skills over and over will result in lower damage. In this case, those combos have too much physical attack skills in a row without auto attacking in between or using magic attack, resulting in lower damage dealt for most bosses.

Normally, bow users don't have a problem regenerating mp in combat because of decoy shot, so they use 4 mp cost combos like adlib>satellite arrow(smite)>finale(smite), impact>snipe(smite)>finale(smite), or kairiki>crossfire, but since you still don't have access to decoy shot which can be unlocked on lvl 150, it's understandable you want to make 1 mp combos with the limited skill points you have.

My advice would be to just try to do the main quest as much as possible until you reach lvl 150 so you can unlock decoy shot, this way you can use the best bow combos without worrying about mp, or you can also get impact lvl 7 from magic skill tree, so you can do impact>snipe(smite)>finale(smite) which is 4 mp cost combo but maximum snipe damage.

 

get Quickdraw to lv10. it has a 30% chance to recover 100mp after every skill that consumes mp.

Sneak Attack can be used in combos without affecting proration.
you should put some distance between 'save' and 'smite' to lessen the damage penalty.

don't get Kick if you don't plan on using trap skills. it's just another physical attack, and doesn't work well with your other shot skills.

to find out whether a combo works or not you have to try in combat. try out any combination you can think of and see what works best for you.

Arrow Rain used to be the strongest attack before Snipe, and also your only AoE attack. if you don't need AoE you don't have to use it.

 

Proration. In general, attacks are categorized into three types: physical skill, magical skill, and basic attack. If you spam physical skills on an enemy, that enemy "will get used to it", thus lowering the damage taken for all physical skills, but increasing the damage taken for other types of attacks.

Ideally, you'd want only 1 or 2 physical skills in one combo, and between each combo you should squeeze in 2 or more basic attacks to the target. At the start of most battles, try doing 3-5 basic attacks for optimal damage proration.

Pure archer and hunter builds/skills are definitely doable, but your DPS potential will be much lower without some skills from other skill trees.

As others have said, it's best that you do your main quests first until you're lv150 to unlock tier 4 skills. It'll take you no more than a week if you casually progress through, or at most 3 days while looking at guides.

Kick is the base skill for Satellite Arrow, not the trap skills. Since the person is going for hunter skills sooner or later, there's no reason for them to not get Kick, and it works well as a cheap combo ender.

if Satellite Arrow is the goal, getting lv5 Kick now is a waste of points that could be more useful on raising one of the other many lv5 skills.
the effect of Kick is most useful for trap skills and does not contribute to the above mentioned skills at all.
the shortest combo that requires an ender is 3 skills long, so any 2mp skill will do. they already have 2 of those.
if you were to trying to optimise useful effects on the ender, or at least not change proration in a negative way, then buff skills like Meykio Shisui would be more useful.
or Sneak Attack to save skill points. considering that they mastered only 1 skill so far, branching out to add more unused skills is not going to help right now.

 

Respectfully disagree. They only need to spend 1 sp on Kick if you think that getting hunter skills would be unhelpful on earlier levels.

What other lv5 skills that aren't hunter or bow skills? Well, I hope the person changes their mindset.

The fact that Kick not contributing to the skills is the point, and also the most important part of being an ender. Kick is there to stop combos, and it's there for those people who don't want to branch out to other skills like the person in question wanted to do. It's not supposed to do anything.

The best ender for DPS combos is the one that doesn't do anything, like Kick or smited Finale. Meikyo is only useful for every few combos and not suitable for spamming, not to mention that it is practically crap without the registlet. Else, spamming Meikyo is just drawing unnecessary aggro and lowering their dps. Sneak Attack might be usable, but then there's 1sp Kick which is just all around more versatile and quicker, not to mention that Sneak Attack doesn't branch out to another skill like Kick. War Cry is out of the question as well since it's a blade skill and costs so many sp. Only cheap buff skill I know from the top of my head is probably Quick Aura, and even then it's a halberd skill and it'll drain HP real quick if it's in every single combo.

TL;DR: 1 sp Kick/close-ranged ender is very useful on all levels for long-ranged users.

but i don't do those things myself. it's basically a loophole which may close at any time. (they already did it once, temporary, and will likely do it again.)

i wouldn't build an archer anything like this build to begin with, but since the question was about combo ideas for those skills specifically i did the best i could think of.
no point in convincing others to delete their chars and do like i do, it's their game and i have mine.

the "this is the best" mentality which defines the meta is a frail thing. at any time a minor change could break everything and people get angry and cry for free resets and other things they are not entitled to. (well, actually they seem to do it even now)

ive finally reached crossed the 150 threshold. am at level 153 to be exact. after buying the level 4 shot skills i realised i have 52 skill points left over. also looking back at my damage output, 30k+ smite damage is quite sad. which is why ive decided to be more openminded abt skill builds. forget the "only archer skills attitude". id like something that allows for decent dmg yet not too complicated.

i heard that the combos will change alot based on ur skill tree level so hopefully its not too much to ask but any skill combos to recommend?
also gear to recommend farming? besides that, additional skill trees to recommend? i know that magic is recommended but i would also like to hear other alternatives if there are any.

as a bow/arrow user most mp-halving skills are unavailable, so there's only Impact from the magic skill tree.
although the skills in that branch align well with shot skills.
of course you can't expect much damage from them, since you don't get a weapon bonus, but they can balance out proration. and being DEX based you'll at least have high cspd.

there aren't much alternatives without switching weapons.
the sub skill tree for arrows is the hunter skill tree.

Minstrel skills are an option. they prevent you from fighting but you can still attack with Decoy Shot and charge Cross Fire while in singing state.
for more offensive abilities you could use Quick Aura and Godspeed Wield, but they come at a risky price.
the buffs from katana skills are also often used by archers to boost critical hits and ampr. Decoy Shot will benefit from this, as it's speed, power and ampr is calculated upon casting and will keep those even when the buff effects have ended.
