Element for dual sword

So, I just began using dual swords(still kinda newbish)
When I go to boss info and it displays the element, example jade raptor= wind element. Is that its weakness or its strength?
I'd appreciate the help

 

it's strength. wind is strong against water, but wind is weak against earth.

well... yes, but actually no.

it's the boss monsters element.
minions and secondary bosses may have different elements, and each special attack may also have it's own element.
only basic attacks always use the innate element.

the element system has no resistances and the player character has no innate element. using a water weapon will not bring you any disadvantages.
since the innate element is wind, it is weak to earth. so earth element attacks will deal 25% more damage.

you can also deal more damage if your equipment has the "damage to wind +%" stat, and you will only deal less damage with "damage to wind -%".
damage taken increases or decreases with "wind resistance" (or other elements).
all those stats are completely unrelated to your weapon's element.

 

That's the element that boss has, the weakness is against the monster.
