Food buff weapon attack +

I currently have the food buff at lvl 5, is it worth investing cook? Or should I only aim my other food buff which is crit lvl6

 

You can get a food buff to level 7 in a decent amount of time, but it does require patience. I don't know about level 8 or above, I've never heard anyone mention that they had their food leveled that high.

 

i've seen someone have lv8 HP and other buffs (forgot the others)

 

the attack increment of weapon refinement scales with Weapon Atk.
since the food buff adds a flat increment, it is most effect on low atk weapons such as Katana, Bowgun, Knuckle and MD.

 

sadly, like most things in the game, the food exp curve grows exponentially.
each level takes significantly more time than the previous one. although the effect growth is just linear, except for the double effect from lv5 to lv6.
if you plan on leveling multiple dishes, just aim for lv6. any higher won't be worth the effort.

 

How much exp do you need to get your food to level 8?

 

it's better to level up food to 7 only.It's not the best but it's pretty usable and fairly fine to get.

since with each leveling the exp needed will fluctuate up around *2,from lv 7 (189 exp) to lv 8 will take a ridiculous time of *2 (380 exp more,which is half a year,not worth it)

unless you can make sure to cook 2 times everyday it would be better to quickly switch to cooking another food soon after finishing current lv7 so you will have greater utility depending on the chars you have.

and later on asobimo will implement the food change function,making this a more plausible move.

If your playing katana wep atck is definitely worth it, although imo the best food is mp and crit since max mp and 100 crit is fixed all throughout the game...

For some reason +weapon attack doesn't seem to be effected by refine. I have +S refine on my katana and +58 wep attack only gave 58 attack.

 

Yes, +weapon attack is not affected by weapon refinement, but is affected by +atck%

 

that is because refinement uses the base value, which does not include +. it works like that for all stats (except unsheathe attack).
% multiplies the base, so it is included for the refinement bonus.

my fault, i forgot about weapon mastery, that's where the additional atk came from.
