I'm in the part where I don't like to fuse my pets because they got really nice skills, but fusing them will make them more efficient.
I want a pet that spams clear mind and resist up before one buff ends (coz the gentle pet casts another resist up within 10 seconds after casting clear mind)

Pet A: has mp gain lv8(I will lvl it to 10) and shield break lv10
Pet B: has clear mind lv6 and resist up lv10
I don't wanna lose either of the skills of Pet A, but everytime I train new pets, they end up with "failed" skills or just lv1 mp gain... RIP life pots -_-

    Why do I hesitate?
-the result pet from fusion will be another "chance-based" skill training, which is quite risky
-I'm also planning to spam fuse MP gain (preferably lv10) before fusing it with Pet B because some sources say spam fusing lessens the "reduction" of pet stats in a party of 3 or more members
-choosing between timid and gentle, I prefer gentle for better mp regen but I prefer timid for shield break (optional)

I am asking for tips from "pro" players that care about pets...

As i said: you can only plan for 3, 2 rest in rng.

Pets do need to be fused from time to time to update the level basically.(like level cap for pets) best to pick one legacy, one to be hosted by a fodder and one easy to pick skill for the young fuseling that you dont mind grinding from lvl1(if rng just screw you up in the butt)
Picking 2 skills from the outer ring will destroy a lot of fodder pets since getting them rely soley on rng. I have circumnavigate that by using cheap high level fodder pets that i won't mind discarding for a dud pick(yes, they first filter out as candidates to keep the pedigree pure as possible, hence it is more ideal to shop than to capture pets)

Alternatively you can make a brand new battle buddy from new pet apps and try your luck.

Personally im using medipot unfused, as breaker, because it has mp5 and break5 birth skills while also being pdef/sly.
As a support i have a fused medipot with clearmind/resist/encourage and on high % it will cast second buff 5sec before first one runs out, as long as its not out of mp (with buff bonus too)
Spam fusing only reduces the atk/matk nerf in party and you need to waste millions of spina.
Im always catching my pets so if you want a cheap and decent support, can try going for medipot, picking mpgain and resist as inherit skills and rng on clearmind (since its easy to pick from those 3) and gentle nature. Medipots are also easy to catch if youre not planning on buying a 100 decent pets.
As an example i rekt ~100 decent pets untill i got resist lvl4/5 while i had like 3-4 mpgain5 pets from them too

So does number of fusion matter to make pet stronger or is it for skill inheritance and lvl cap making higher

fusion count by itself only lessens the party penalty.
simply fusing untrained pets is a waste of resources. the fusion cost will increase significantly, but the pet doesn't become stronger.
fusing trained pets adds 10% of the parents' stats to the fused pet's potential.
so you could expect a 20% power boost after each fusion, as long as the level cap doesn't decrease.
