Hi! Im about a week into this game. Interesting stuff. Researching a lot. Building a bow user.
I understand builds for archers. Dex, crit, str...
I want to achieve something fast and critical. Guessing Ill have to do that through equips.
My equips so far:

Zel Shooter +4
Crit Dam +10
Crit Rate +10
Crit Rate +10%
Atk +7%
Crit Rate +5 (Crysta)

Mithril Arrow
Atk: 36 (20%) what does that mean?
Crit Rate +1%
Crit Dam +3
Heaven Feather Garb
Def 143
Potential 80 pts <---and this means what?

Gothic Hat
Def: 35
Crit rate +14
Open Slot. Plan on putting Warmonger in that when i can afford it

Time Warp Watch
Def 3
Atk SPD +1000

So questions...
Can i add slots to any of these gears? If yes, how so?
Considering the crit/speed build do i need to worry about combos?
Recommendations for skill points to go on?
Would like to look into making potions though.

Hmm, you can switch up the gothic hat for bear hat, unslotted is fine. Get one with a slot once you have enough money. For armor you can buy the one with critical stat, try to lookup some older gear like killer coat or holy robe. Then buy a bow with more crit rate. You can lookup some with 15+ crit. Getting more critical is the top priority.

Try to get all elemental arrows to enhance your damage, it gives 25% elemental damage to the opposing ele enemies. The percentage besides the arrow is the extra stability that it gives you. Its halved for bowguns though.

You can search for the arrows drop location on coryn club site. They either drop from mobs, crafted from npc smith or a quest reward.

 

this arrow adds 36atk and 20%stability to Bows. (Bowguns only get half of that, other weapons get nothing)

a player blacksmith can use the Customize Equipment skill to exchange Potential for stats.

there is a very low chance to win a random "piercer" item from the orb shop gacha. there is one for each type of equipment.
you can also buy them with spina from other players who had the luck to get one.

since you seem to play on the offensive, Shot Mastery is a must for more atk. Long Range Mastery increases the damage of ranged attacks, but it has no effect on placed skills such as Arrow Rain and Crossfire.
despite being unaffected by ranged damage multipliers, Crossfire is the most powerful attack skill in the game.
Decoy Shot doubles your mp recovery.
Quickdraw makes your mp last longer by randomly recovering 100mp everytime you consume mp for attack skills.
Paralysis Shot increases your stability for a few seconds, which indirectly boosts your damage output.
Smoke Dust increases your accuracy for a few seconds, this may not seem necessary with high critical rate, but it is helpful to avoid graze hits.
Snipe inflicts Armor Break, which lowers the target's defense for 5 seconds.

production skills require many skill points and the TEC stat to be effective.
half (or more) of all your stat and skill points will go into this, so smiths and synthesists are much weaker in combat.
if this is your first character, don't do it.

 

About the suggestion of getting the Bear Hat, if you have the patience of waiting until March for White Day, you can farm the mats at Handmade Cookie for it.
Also in February, you will have the chance to get a event-limited fire element arrow. Might also aim for that. There's a event-limited light element arrow during White Day, you should definitely get that, the alternative light arrow leaves more to be desired.
