how does fractional resistance work?

I recently got a new armour xtal "mom fluck" and it come with 12% fractional resistance. (If i remember the % correctly)

I noticed that I have blue icon below my HP bar and I often got Fractional barrier to reduce damage to 1. I currently party at Gerumi and when it not activate I got hit with 5000-6000 fractional damage. When it is activate it reduce damage to 1.

So how is this fractional resistance work? If I got up to 50% then it would reduce more damage? or would it stay the same? Or would it activate faster?

I try to find information online but not a lot of information on fractional barrior and resistance.

 

u mean it comes with 15% fractional barrier
barrier doesnt work like resist cuz it has a cooldown so if u get hit by multiple fracs only the first one will take effect on the barrier, the rest of the fracs will just hit u normally until the barrier cooldown is over
the value of frac barrier does stack but not the barrier itself so even if you have 50% frac barrier totalled from 3 equips, it only counts as 1 barrier

fractional dmg received depends on ur max hp so my guess is that 15% barrier exceeds the frac dmg caused by gerumi
so yea frac barrier only useful against bosses that dont do multi hit fracs

 

when i hear fractional damage carbuncle comes to my mind that mini boss has some insane frac dmg
