how strong are bows in this meta?

i havent played toram in over a month, pretty much lost interest so dont know any new stuff.
i was planning a bow build, but found out bows snipe "Guard break" got changed to "armour break". wtf this took away one of the benifits of using a bow over a bowgun. STABLE DAMAGE & 60% to always hit your damage. you'd see a bowgunner hit very low damage at high guard bosses; but bow users could almost always hit good numbers cause a boss cant guard your damage.
Is there any use now in using a bow over a bowgun besides personal choice?
i see some posts saying bow damage is higher now?
also how much have archer skills been buffed?

 

Arrow rain hits 8 times now for bow, with my bow build I can hit 10k per volley of arrows now, total 80k with arrow rain and 100k snipes, the damage is stable and reliable, and doesn't vary in any way as much as a bowgun, like you said. You can always rely on a bow to do the same or similar damage instead of a 40k snipe non crit and then a 180k crit the next snipe pretty much randomly.

Snipe does 25% more damage with a bow now, and bowgun didn't get a buff.

I already outdps'd most gunners easily with my bow, even before this update, with this new update it will be even stronger. Bows are coming fast for bowguns, especially with the cap ever increasing and bows gaining atk and Cdmg from str.

Also, Bow inflicts ailments far more often than bowgun, it works very well as a boss debuffer, with armor break (-50% boss Def) and slow, and blind, and Paralysis.

Snipe is guaranteed to hit if the enemy is inflicted with blind by smoke dust, so that makes bows even more accurate, they also have no critical nerf on snipe, meaning you can get 100 critical rate and never, ever see a white hit on snipe ever again. This gives them far more utility and stability, and an edge on dps over bowguns.

With the new buffs to shot skills, it just makes bows even stronger, especially with the buff to snipe for only bows. Bow is strong as heck, just underrated.

 

Bowgun got -25% critical rate debuffs on snipe. So, for always hitting bos on nightmare/ultimate run, bowgun user needs crit rate of 133%
Now, the only way for bowgun to out dps bow user is to be gunfu, kill party proration, and then be kicked

But, on the other side, bowgun still can utilize various sub weapon, rather than only using arrow like bow user does

 

The ailment guard break only got its name changed to armor break.
The ailment itself never gave the chance to bypass enemy guard rate infact it had nothing to do with guard break at all.

 

altough my memory is not great but dont recall a snipe ever been guarded when guard break activated.
what was gaurd breaks effect with bow then?

 

My snipe got guarded many times even if it already had the ailment likewise I can guard myself if I ever get armor break.
It only reduces the def of the enemy to 0 doesnt affect the guard rate at all.

 

Yep, as mayam said, armor breaked monster still can guard. This also applied for any other armor break skill, such as shell break or snipe from bg

 

U can still get guarded.Tried w/sb on my sword and got guard . with bow aswell .. good luck

 

Its possible for sb to get guarded but you prolly didnt check that sb remains the same damage with or without guard while snipe will reduce to 1/4th
