How to farm 4 Odelon Machinas at once (xtal farming)

Just throwing in a little tip I discovered as a pdef tank. When is the best time to use pdef, when facing 3+ Odelons?

Avoid all linear AOEs (as per common sense!) and then when you see a small red circular AOE, know that it'll be a 3-hit combo. The first is a flinch, but you can easily avoid it by staying out of the red circle. The second hit will always be a knockback, and will hit you no matter where you are. Pdef this 2nd hit. You can time it very easily, and safely too so that you won't get pushed into any other awaiting (linear) AOE.

This simple rule for pdef tanking made 4x odelons MUCH easier for me! I hope it does for others now too.

 

Q1. Is it easy or difficult to farm odelon xtal?
Q2. What are the odds of getting one? (assuming you consistently farming 6 odelons at once)
Q3. (I'll ask your opinion in this) What will you choose? Being a lvl 150 Stater/Refiner & ALCHE OR Farming ODELON xtal?

Honest answers will be appreciated.

I use 1H and usually use a normal combo first, then p.def all the way and let the dps tumble the odelon xD

 

I always farm odelon 4x with 1h shield , its better than mage tank, did u know how to control aggro if there were 2 finale and 1 cf? Guardian?finale?storm? Its useless for me

Use sanctuary, max ailment resist so you won't get flinched, use protection only

No, alliance doesn't apply to other than raid boss. 4+odelon is available by re-entering the map so you get another odelon per person, whilst the previous odelon intact

 

hmm, a whole thread to get odelon xtal.... I got one while leveling up *shrugs*

 

when i tried this a couple weeks ago my party member had 5 odelons and i had just 4, his odelon wasn't even on my map (we talked in voice chat), so i couldn't even take aggro. Seems asobeemo removed ability to tank more than 4
