Is a full tank necessary for party?

Just of of curiosity since my main was a tanker, but now i switch to a bowie. I noticed that many bosses if not require full break or has a long list of crazy aliments... can be tank with other dps class. I tank with my bow dps cha and my friend tank with his dw cha. I only use my actual tanker for Venena (since if i dodge the spike aoe...i might directed vene laser to other pt memebers) , mini boss mass kill farming, bosses that have lil minions, bosses that has very high magic or physical attk that higher than my bowie hp (my bowie have about 9k hp with food & consumeable buff)

so im curious ... is the full tanker still popular or needed in this game? i always frustrated when dps die while I tank and I cant do damage as a tanker. I have full Vit MTL tanker ... which i consider resetting it to a mage (why mage? ... high magic def , able to tank if necessary with p.def & support and other tank skills). But we fore i do that...i really want to see other people opinion about this first...so i wont waste the skill reset booklet for a bad decision.

 

Yes. Do a gemrun without a true tank. They tend to no go very well

 

Its never been a must have for every battles in the first place but you still need one for high difficulty battles. It is a boring character to play. And yes, any character could technically tank as the principle behind it is just to hold aggro and withstood attacks. If you want to play dps, then play dps, just dont expect to tank stuffs like pyxtica, usasama hell mode, iron empress, volgagon and some other high risk battles as you would be a liability as a tank if you die. If you really want to do some damage as a tank, go make a filthy str-dex-vit 1h shield knight. And for god sake use meteor break, binding strike and shield cannon sucks. Just remember to put warcry in the combos for party buff aggro.

 

i do use protection and War cry with my bowie so I can hold aggro...but my pt member has to eat -aggro buff. Usually I pt with friends and guildies only so they know my playstyle. I did tank Pyxtica (Hard) with my bowie though XD ... havenot try tanking nm yet.

Um.. now u make me cant decide between mage tank or 1h paradin. I have stargem for kunb skill so i can usually switch to knub tank if needed.

 

Mini boss mass killing, gemrun and high difficulty boss which 1 shots DPS needs a tank but if you'll just fight casual bosses which is manageable then you can run without one.

Not mandatory but needed in some cases.

 

If your full tank meaning is Full VIT>MTL with any main + Shield, then the answer is Not a must.

If you are professional PDEF tank, you don’t even need 30-50K HP, about 15Hp is enough for you because you won’t get high damage at all. Beside with this medium range HP and when you fail PDEF and get fractional damage,you can easy recover from it.if you not so good on PDEF, Sanctuary and resistant Buff item and gem is your friends. So basically what you need it’s just able to hold the aggro, and can survive in mob normal attack.

I would suggest your go for 1H-shield with 200 VIT and the rest go for STR. With this you will have around 14-15K base HP. Using +S shield you can deal nice damage, With PCR you challenge high DEF mob and don’t need invest so much on Critical Rate. Using Binding Strike can generate more aggro and clear the minion.

You can use player stat 1hs or thunder axe if you have one.

 

That not a paladin, just a knight....paladin do not require a shield, they can use 2H or any weapon as long as their loyalty to their lord never change. never mind...

you can use player craft weapon, 4th anni 1H and glacier Ice sword is good as well. Thunder axe is good but -25 Earth resistant not a good idea for a semi tank.

 

Depends, because of they have enough resistance then -25 any res doesnt matter

 

A aggro holder is the core for a team, especially the other team member is glass cannon. Once the aggro holder dead the whole team corrupted. So better don’t take the risk. Beside I think PCR is must more easier to get compare to volgagon...

 

That -25% earth resistance can be negated by the new special gear from the new map which gives 500mp and 25% earth resistance

 

There still lot of ways to remove the -25% earth resistant...but this will strictly limit the choice of gear you can use...

 

The only limitation I see is the no aggro stat for the tank character or the additional resistance from D. Talisman Resist.

I don't mind sacrificing those, I mean special gears imo are meant to add more mana pool in your character with some extra stat from it.

 

Think of another ways, if you don’t use thunder axe and use the Earth Resistant Talisman, you will get another +25% ER + higher mana pool.

 

only the good ones,they can really flip over a situation.

not all bosses needs a full tank.
just like how not all players are good ones.

 

Can tell you right now, using a -30% Water Res and a -25% earth res set I've had a total of 0 issues
