Is katana weak?

As I get higher level, I see fewer Katana players and also they don't do a lot of damages. I also have a Katana char, but it was the first char I created. The skill points were a bit mess up, so I don't do a lot of damage. What do you think of the Katana class?

 

It's one of the strongest and fastest DPS. With the right setup of course. It needs unsheathe equips to boost its damage. Tenryu paired with GSW is really good for fast spamming. High def bosses? The 4th Anniv Katana IX gives decent pierce. With decent equips and good playstyle, you can even beat DWs and halberds against Venena ulti.

 

Katana is very strong class, its relies on unsheathe atk
Tenryu have 4 stack, with each stack increases motion speed. Combine this with gsw, you can basically blitz through boss.
For survival, you have Magadachi and Zantei which parry enemy atk, then you have Garyou for high defense boss
Not to mention, you can dash after each auto atk in case you need to get away from enemy, and they have one of the highest ampr in game

The only downside i found is they have a bit shorter range for auto atk, so you need to be careful on wave spam boss

 

For physical type, as far as the potential of the weapon concerned, the ranking would be like this:
-Dragon tooth Halberd
High base weapon atk, 100%p.pierce, to reach max damage you can raise atk, cdmg, long range/short range damage, elemental advantage, motion speed

-Tenryuu Katana
Has lesser base weapon atk, damage factors are unsheathe, short range damage, and cdmg, elemental advantage, p. Pierce, motion speed

-Crossfire bow
Very easy to get elemental advantage from the use of elemental arrows, has(the same effect as) 50% p. Pierce with the use of snipe's armor break. Damage potential growth is limited to atk, cdmg, elemental advantage for cross fire, long range/short range and motion speed is the additional damage variables to snipe, cross fire is time based so motion speed affects almost nothing to its damage.

-Dual sword
Damage factors would be elemental advantage, which is easily obtained from the dual element nature, cdmg, shortrange/long range damage, p. Pierce.
The use of proto clarity and the ampr advanyage made it rivals dragon tooth Halberd.

-unsheathe 2handed sword
Damage variables would be, atk, cdmg, unsheathe, elemental advantage, p. Pierce, short range damage, motion speed.

-Meteor/buster 2handed sword
Same as enchanted sword 2h sword, minus unsheathe

As we can see, Halberd has a head start above every other weapons due to its inherent 100% p.pierce of dragon tooth, which is the bottleneck Stat for other weapons. In theory, if we have 100% physical pierce for every weapon type, katana would be undoubtedly placed on top, pure dps wise,
Due to the unsheathe bonus as the absolute bottleneck for dragon tooth Halberd, crossfire bow, and Meteor 2h. As for enchant sword it's basicaly has the same potential as katana.

My guess is, Katana having a fewer pierce gears contributed to the amount of user on higher defense bosses.

I'm leaving out ampr in equation since it also depends on how you recover your mp, which would make comparison more complicated, and doesn't directly affect your damage output in damage calculation. I'm leaving out spammability as the control variable. The easeness of playing style also contributes to what the players prefer to use




Aint gonna include knuck since Im still salty that I recently got beaten by a toygun user on venena ulti

 

Unsheathe attack works effectively on low defense bosses even on some ulti ones (mardula, seele, ornlarf, ...), but to high defense bosses (zahhak, zelbuse, crystal titan or at least venena) ulti, you will need extremely high armor penetration to kill them (must have at least 39%) , so depend on situations, try to switch between unsheathe attack, armor pen or mix between them to effectively kill those bosses.

NO ONE CLASS WERE WEAK
The one that make it weak are the users / people that control it.
Even the character using MOST OVERPOWERED gears, they still kinda weak.
TBH, in my case, I just use YT people's build as little reference for knowing stat, skills, and gears work.
and then, using my own build as unique rather than FOLLOWING / COPYING the other build and we still not familiar to use...
And later we just Keep blaming that BUILD / CLASS are WEAK....

People's cursed that people still not knowing about own curses yet

That one can render the spike to be "miss"
Is it possible?

 

It's possible when i switch the language to English to accurate when the spike proc to encounter (3 times) (1 is between the letter "l" and "b", the other is between letter "4" and "z" (middle), the last one is on the left corner of letter "1". So when his health drops to those points, try to use any skill that gain you invincibility or stay away and use your cf, pulse blade, charriot,... to proc the spike without suffering the slow from spike.

 

saw a katana user at venena ytd, and she was always top dps, i would say she out dps the 1 hit finale mage at pillar
