Its NOT Luck, its Farming.

Sometimes I do think luck does come into play. But I think it's just cause I end up getting what I think is unexpected when I find out it's more common.
Like the miracle potum. I barely fought the thing three times and got the morning star. Later found out it is actually quite common. That or I'm misinformed.

 

Kay .. for me luck is when you did nothing and gain something.
But when you did something and gain another thing its a value effort, and each person has different value effort.
I.e one player might getting an 'A' xtal for the first try, but another player might be getting it after a 100th try,,
I wouldnt say that the first player is luckier than the second, nor the second is unluckier than the first,,cz they both did some effort.
But instead what I would say is that the first player's value effort at that time is bigger than the second one..
So, to put it simple is "in order to achieve something we should do something."
Be there it was an easy one or it was a hard one to get, it's your value effort at that time.
So, no .. I wont called something that I earned, no matter how small the effort I'm putting into, as being lucky.
Nor when I haven't yet achieving my goals, no matter how big my effort was, as being unlucky.

I think a person getting an xtal in one try qualifies as being luckier than a person who did it over 1 thousand times.

 

exactly.... there's no such thing as having more "value effort". That's like saying "well this person only attempted once but they put more effort into that attempt than the other person did in 100 tries".
It's all luck, someone getting an xtal in 1 try compared to someone trying 100's of times? The player was lucky. If it was based on effort then drops would be based off kills. For example: kill Eerie 1000 times, reward: Eerie crystal. That would be effort and not luck cause you are guarentee a reward for your efforts. But no drops are based off a percentage and the only thing that determines whether you get the drop is through RNG (random number generator for those not familiar with the term) each drop has a percent chance and the game determines through random generation after all circumstances are met, I.e any break points or other things that determine a specific item to drop.

Nothing to do with effort, and the unfortunate players who work their ass off killing a boss 1000's of times day and night and never get a drop is proof luck is the only factor. If it wasn't then what's the point of increase drop rate items? once you attempt something at least once, then you already made an "effort" to achieve your goal.

Said it on my previous reply,, each person has different values in their effort. Some must go through hell, some just like walk in a park, still an effort has to be done.
When you gain something through effort its called achievement.
When you gain achievement without doing anything then its a luck. And I never had those kind of thing, so .. my opinions is still the same

 

Everyone has to do something for something else to happen. By your logic there is no such thing as luck, because everything requires some sort of effort. What luck is is the thing that causes those "different values in effort". Wouldn't you say someone was lucky because they got to go through the park instead of hell?

 

Like I said once you make a single attempt then you have already made an "effort" whether that person gets it in 1 try or 1 million tries all depends on luck or drop altering items/effects.

 

i think the problem here is the fact that you completely dismissed the aspect of Luck. if that did not exist entirely, there wouldnt a LUK stat, books to boost drop rates and others. maybe one day you will understand when it actually happens to you XD

This thread is a little over saturated with opinions. It's both and that's the only truth. Yes, someone who tries 100 times is more likely to succeed than the person who tries 10 times but the fact of the matter is that I can succeed 10 tries out of 10 or I can fail 100 times out of 100. Logistics say that the first is more improbable than the second but both are possible and that's all there really is to it. Regardless of how many times we try, it's all up to RNGesus. In the same vein, if we don't try at all then there's no chance of succeeding ever.

 

I couldn't put this better my self. It is luck. It is effort. More effort less luck needed for success. More luck less effort. They still go hand and hand. In this case they don't exist without the other.

 

Well the problem is effort and luck are two different things.

To sum up what I read in this thread and what you guys are trying to say,
You do effort+hard work in order to get what you want no matter how long it takes and if you are lucky you can get it in a shorter time.

Effort+hard work - you scratch a ticket and manage to get the jackpot after 10 million tries. you did it no matter how many you scratch.
Luck - you scratch one ticket and won the jackpot.

The problem here is you are comparing two different thing as if they are the same thing.
Effort and luck are two different things but they go hand in hand.

My thoughts.

Everything is about luck.

Unless eerie xtal can be obtain through a quest of killing 1000x errie boss . That would be considered not luck but effort. Since that means killing the boss from 1-999 x doesnt give you the xtal.

But since the xtal is drop by chance at any tries, once , twice to a thousand times. Then the luck plays out. If person A got the xtal in first try and person B got it at 1000 tries. Then person A is lucky than person B. Both makes an effort but person B "Exerted More". Less effort is always better .

 

1) Pray to RNGeezus, and farm. Farm like you mean it.
2) Profit

 

If you want an item at the first try go play Mario Bros. lol. Its on the little squares with a [?].

If u want to finish your Char, Farm, Use all methods known to get higher chances, Farm Some more. And in time, with more farm, you will hit the right variables to get the maths right to get the right % of the formula to get the items. And BTW... Its not finished, more stuff will be published at the next manteinence... so You haven´t really finished... and YES!!... You guessed right... MORE FARM!!!
