lame 1h and shield guide

for all you guys that don't like fat swords i decided to help y'all out giving you a decent build that can solo almost everything. it's good at tanking at breaking, and it has decent damage.

stats
full dex OR 1:1 str to dex

skills
blade skills:
hard hit level 10
astute level 10 (why would you leave this at any other level )
trigger slash level 10
sword mastery level 5
quick slash level 5-10
sword techniques level 10

survival skills:
safe rest level 5
hp boost level 10
fighter's high level 1 (cancel before auto-attacking to activate)

shield skills:
shield mastery level 5-10
shield bash level 5 (level 5 is enough)
force shield level 10
magical shield level 10
optional:
protection level 5-10
aegis level 5-10

magic skills:
mp recharge level 1

knight skills:
provoke level 10
rage sword level 5

combos:
astute > hard hit (consec) > trigger slash (consec)

hard hit > astute (consec) > rage sword/shield bash (consec) > trigger slash (consec)

This is good build,
I found my self, 1H build should be semi-tank so having +2000HP is nice. with Roga xtall + Vita plus II we can have 2000HP more .
However, in order to tank, we should take lvl10 provoke and/or lvl10 Rage sword (can be extra DPS skill).
Sword mastery is not necessary for Semi-tank, damage is okay with full dex already because our role is not Main DPS on the party.

 

Rage sword would be useful.

 

Have anyone utilised knight skill while using shield?
Since assault attack gain 25% bonus damage and sword rage gain 50% bonus damage while equiping shield.

thanks ^_^. i cant test it since i alrd delete my 1h . but i believe sword rage is a good skill w decent damage while gaining aggro and breaker opener
i used to have sword rage w my DW tho. decent damage. T_T . never tried it with shield

 

Your info valid. Rage sword damage increase when I equip shield.
Tested on bigmask miniboss.
Smited Rage sword with dagger do: 3k - 4k white damage, 7k - 8k critical damage
Smited Rage sword with shield do: 4k - 5k white damage, 10k - 12k critical damage
I am use only @41+8 sword.

yeah, planning on getting rage sword since mere 1mp combo spam isn't enough now (pssst snipe spammers)

 

That's good. Rage sword not only doesn't cost much MP, but it also aggros. Since you only have Hp boost in this build I recommend getting ____ xtals and _____ gear.

 

the shield passives force shield and magical shield give 50 hp per level, so that's an extra 1k hp there more hp would be great though

 

Rage sword alone is not enough to hold agro nowadays.
IMHO, you still need provoke lvl10 at the start of the battle, so you can hold agro from crazy 100mp combo spammer (especially, someone that use save combo tag with 1k++ agro, for ex Archer with smoke dust "save")

Yes, It's tank wise only, but I think it's important for this kind of build. Because, the good build is pointless if we can't manage to get a rank from boss fight. which this class should aim at least "tank" rank.

Well. we also can achieve breaker rank indeed, but it's not guarantee also.
We need good ASPD and fast 100mp combo to achieve this rank. which other DPS class can steal it from you.

 

True. You also have to make sure you would still have aggro if there is a supporter or a huge DPS.

 

so far the rank that i can secure with my 1h and shield is breaker rank, never had problems with that one. rage sword could be put in a 1mp combo for easy combo spam and getting back aggro, the problem would be snipe combo spam stealing aggro again haha

 

Yes. I know.
1H with casual Astute>HH>TS combo is really fast combo to secure breaker. with capped ASPD our normal attack is good to go.
Beating knuckle is easy for us, because their skill animation is suck anyway.
But, you can't secure it from other swordsman in party

what do you thing the best equipment for 1h/shield user is?

 

>Shield with a Balanced guard rate/gaurd power (i personally go with the Ooze Shield), with this build all the shields that you will equip will add 1kHP
>Sword that increases your attack speed(Brutal Dragon Sword) or a sword that increases your HP (Adel Sword) or the Sword of Sin
>Armor: Plate armor or Scale armor.
Heavy Remodel if you want to act as a tank of half tank.
>Knight talisman(for Aggro) or Str talisman
>knight helm for extra hp and Def
Brutal Dragon Cape(Aggro and Mp)
Forest Wolf Cape(atk speed, there might be better ones for atk speed but idk im a knight tank so i don't care much about atk speed)

If you want tank stack up on hp regen % it helps a lot.. My ingame friend says its a BIG help
