My Tank Build

    This is a pure VIT tank not to menton my first and las atempt of a tank so other ppl might have bether guides. Don't expect any dmg output whatsoever. What use are you to a team if you can't do damage? Well people find me pretty useful so I guess this works.

    Note: All skills/stats/gear are PRE update, the most recent update with apple mini boss and wyvern boss. sorry idk their names. so if you find better gear from this new update or even old gear please feel free to add to the guide.
    P.S: type of character doesn't matter but I chose Sword just to have the first sword skill which is a 1mp flinch skill so it does help occasionally

    Stats: Total 146 points
    -Vit: 146 pts

    Skills: 80 points
    -Survival: 25 points
    Drop rate- 10pts
    Safe rest- 5pts
    HP Boost- 10 pts
    -Guard: 10 points
    Heavy Armor Mastery- 10pts
    -Sheild Skills: 35 points
    Sheild Mastery- 5pts
    Sheild Bash- 10 points
    Force Shield- 10 points
    Protection- 10 points
    Knight Skills: 10 points
    Provoke- 10 points

    Equipment: My gear/stats
    Relic Sword(boss version) or Acordion Sword
    -Relic Sword Atk 51+7, Melee +1%, Guard rate +3%, Accuracy +5
    -Accordion sword Atk 1+5, Aggro +30%, Atk MP recovery +3

    Relic Shield (boss version)
    - Def 12+7, Guard rate +22%, Guard power +15%, Accuracy +5


    Heavy Plate Armor (Crafted with my BS)
    - Def 41+7, Physical resist +2%, Def+5

    Sallet (Caravan drop in Witchekta 2)
    - Def 18+6, Accuracy +1%, Physical resist +2%, Stability +3%

    Magicians Ring (Blacksmith shop craft)
    - Def 3, Mp +1000, -25% atk/matk

    NOTE: All equips are slotted (except shield of coarse) and have HP +100 xtals. You can substitute the HP xtals for whatever fits your need most. I have a good amount of spina but I never buy xtals cause I feel they're overpriced and HP in this build isn't extremely important if you use revita ll (otherwise you might need a healer if not enough DPS in your team). A Vit Tank is only as powerful as its DPS teamates. With Force Shield and Provoke you will hold aggro long enough for your team to kill anything. Unless it's a Super 2 hand sword user that spams a bunch of astute and deals insane dmg. then you will need to provoke a 2nd time.

    idk honestly. I put it on tank cause this tank was mainly for g skele, I farmed him 4 days got 2 xtals and like 10-12 gold dye. after update I don't see ppl there. as far as it helping I'm pretty sure it's xtal drop % times 10%. so if xtal has a 0.1% drop rate then skill will make it 1%. but idk the real xtal drop rate, that's just a skill explanation. some ppl think it adds 10% but it doesnt

    a few of those skills I posted defiantly can be substituted. drop rate is one of them. but where would you put those 10 points?

    Thanks for the explanation. I may explore that skill in my farming char.
    I cant say where i will put the 10 points... at the new shield mdef passive maybe? But if u can tank with having drop rate 10, the better i think.

    the mdef skill is useful for the new boss, also the skill to prevent status ailments. the new boss can really beat tanks down quick

    may i ask regarding provoke skill is this a range skill or close range?

    it can be used at long range (as far as the target system allows you to target). You cast the skill and a red exclamation mark briefly shows above enemy. The skill at lvl 10 uses only 200mp which is great.

    provoke 200 mp
    Force Shield 100 mp
    and shield bash 100 mp
    that's a total of 400 mp used and really all u need for 1 fight. shield bash maxed is about 6 seconds of stun which is good time to break all parts, just have your team tap the break circles for you and your good. For some reason it seems shield bash only succeeds once per enemy unless my accuracy is just extremely bad.

    Thank you for posting!

    Unfortunately with the newer trend of bosses having high dodge rates shield bash won't be landing much with only 1 dex :).

    As for keeping the 10 points in drop at this point you might as well. One alternative down the line could be adding in the priest skill tree for Gloria which multiplies your defense 300% at lvl 10 for 100 mp. With a good supporter in the team they should have this skill anyway.

    what skill lvl is gloria? will I need to invest a lot of points to unlock It?

    Gloria is the 2nd level ability. You would have to spend 5 points on bless (gives you a dinky group heal over time) and then 10 points on Gloria. In total you would need 15 skill points. Possibly doable for your build with the new level cap increase?

    One thing to note is Gloria seems most effective if it will take your defense over the 1k mark, meaning you need about a 335 base. As a side note it does the same for your mdef as well.

    last time I checked my def was 500+ so gloria would be a good idea to add right?

    At level 10 it should take your def up to 1500+.

    One thing you could play with first is getting a second char that is level 1 with the skill maxed and have them cast it on you to see what type of reduction it gives you just to make sure it is worth it. If you need help verifying some time let me know and I can help with this.

    Stun has an immunity timer of around 10 or 15 seconds for monsters.

    No problem. The timer is honestly the only reason I use Hard Hit for flinch between stuns. Flinch, from what i've seen, also adds 1 second to the stun timer. Not sure if it adds onto Knockdown down.

    By the way. Liking your build thus far. Used to use a similar build to it during 40 cap. I wanted to ask about how much hp you have currently though. As well as your defenses so that I have a scale to run some build test on.

    Also, selling any other 41 def, high pot, Plate armors? ;D

    I don't charge for smith service if you supply materials, feels kinda selfish in a way.
    Hp: 5.2 or 5.3k I beleive
    Def: last checked was around 500

    There is a global cooldown on stuns caused by Shield Bash. You can only inflict the stun once every 10 seconds, assuming you have enough accuracy to land the hits. Let's say you have perfect accuracy and never miss, then Shield Bash will only ever cause a stun once and then you need a 10 second window before you cast your next Shield Bash. Hard Hit doesn't follow this same mechanic. You can hard hit (in theory) as many times as you'd like and cause multiple flinches. However, with monsters gaining resistance to certain types of attacks the more they are used against the monsters, your rate steadily declines if you spam an interruption skill. It's best to do something like Shield Bash, wait for a red zone, Hard Hit, wait for another red zone, Hard Hit again and then repeat the process.
