Need advice for 2h swordie

I'm still new to this type of swordie so I need some help on building the character. I want to ask about:
- Items
- Stats
- Combos
And which fit 2h swordie more? Brutal Drag Armor or Forest Wolf?
Currently using:
Boss Gob sword w/ boss gob xtal
Forest Wolf garb
Brutal Drag cape
STR talisman w/ Eerie xtal

 

-Items/Gear
You're gear fits well for the most part. Forest Wolf Garb for 2 handed sword users feels more appropriate for 2 handed sword users due to the static attack speed as opposed to the 10% attack speed that tacks onto a low attack speed weapon. That and the extra hp, def, and def reduction won't help a 2 handed swordsman much anyway in most cases.

The only thing i'd change is the Brutal Dragon Cape and the STR Talisman. The Brutal Dragon Cape isn't necessary for a DPS and should be changed out to a Crystal Earring for the 300 MP. The Guard Rate is useless without a build that specializes in Guard rate and Guard Reduction. The aggro is also problematic for a DPS and is a hindrance to tanks. That and Crystal Earrings are very cheap to obtain, at around 2k for a slotted one.

The Talisman can be replaced with a Sofys Talisman from the main story quest for the extra 100 mp. STR or AGI talisman works fine otherwise.

-Stats
For a 2 handed sword i'd recommend one of these choices.
Str with some crit
or
Str and 20 ~ 25 dex
or
Full STR

Crt for critical rate, as most believe that crits work similar to Iruna Online, where they simply do not miss when proc'd.
Dex is for the hit rate boost. Simply because if you miss a sword strike, you miss alot of potential damage. 40 ATK point drop.
STR, if you simply don't care about hit rate and spam Astute to alleviate your hit rate problem.

Keep in mind that each of these builds work well in this patch and will all likely lead to each other in the future. Since you need them all for maximum damage output, unless you're going to add vit.

I'll leave combos alone. I'm not confident in that area as of yet.

2H pure STR dps, should I go light or heavy armor?

 

Light. I'm also a level 50, 2h full str and I can tell you that we are not tanks in the very least so there's no point pretending we are. You'll appreciate the extra attack speed and evading skills is really rad. Only downfall is most heavy armor looks a lot better.

I find it hard soloing bosses with too much HP simply because i can't hold out long enough to kill it. I always draw aggro as well so I know I'm dealing damage the boss doesn't like.

Screamingfox has it right. As for combos, it will depend on your skillset. I personally only use one. Astute - >Hard Hit - > Trigger Slash with consecutive on the two after skills. Damage is decent and ending it with trigger slash will help you regain your mp. It's also what I consider to be a good enough length for a combo. Too long and you're open for the boss' aoe and those suck.

Of course, this is all a personal suggestion.
