So I have played over 134 hours, but I am now having trouble progressing. I am on the quest Chapter 4: The Creeping Shadows and I can not beat the guy in the Gravel Terrace even with a level 109 mercenary. I take a ton of damage and feel like I do no damage.

So what exactly am I doing wrong with my character? I do so little damage I barely seen boss bars move. In 5-10 non AOE hits, I am dead.

Any advice? Also, any advice with leveling my character at this level? I have tried NC, BNuts, etc but I can never get into parties for them and it takes forever....
Also, any advice on how to easily get better swords if that is what I need? And please don't say to buy stuff. I don't have that much spina lol.

Personally, I think the luck stat is a waste on a main character, but that's personal preference. You could buy some better weapons from the board. Bitter nut/ nisel wood farming is a great way to make some quick spina. One stack of nuts goes for 3000 to 5000 depending on how fast you want to sell. Sword technique skill only works for blade skills if I remember right, so unless you have a few blade skills you use its pointless. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that one)

If you have access to combos, which ones are you using? If not, get 10 different active skills to unlock them. Ease up on the passive until you do. Just my advice ;) Combos are amazing lol.

Assuming you have combos, try this: astute>spinning slash(con)>twinslash(con)
It was my go to before I had phantom slash. Fast, effective, and easy on mp.

I'd also put some more points on agi. That's your sub hand damage and really important, especially with dual wields stronger skills like phantom slash. Sub hand atk isn't listed on the stat list but it exists and is important for dw. I also have 20 points on vit, but that's just me. Most will say not to because it sacrifices damage potential. Later on, put some on str to. It increases main and sub hand damage as well as critical damage. The ratio is up to you

As for leveling up, boss farming is the quickest for me. Find bosses that are either 4 or less lvls below or 4 or more lvls higher than you. You get a lot of extra exp from them. You can also sell the good drops on the board to make money to upgrade your gear. You can get really good weapons on the board for 20k each. And shouldn't take more than an hour or two of farming to get.

Just my advice, take with a grain of salt lol

Edit: and try refining a little higher. I would go at least +5

You have 1 lvl to 70 so try to grind that off before progressing. Use the following as a reference only:

As for DW, potential easy combos are:
    1) Hard Hit > Sonic Blade (Save) > Astute (Consec.) > Twin Slash (Smite) > Spinning Slash (Consec.)

    2) Spinning Slash > Spiral Air (Save) > Astute (Consec.) > Sonic Blade (Consec.) > Charging Slash (Smite) > Hard hit (Consec.)

Those are just some stuff you can try if you have the CP for it and when you get the know how, try something more advanced using 3 or more skill trees if you like.

For main hand weapons (For reference only, ideally you want a player crafted weapon with attack and critical stats):
    - Gladius
    - Jupiter Sword (Event, whenever it comes around)
    - Rapier (Aim for this for now)
    - Scimitar
    - Butcher's Knife (Event, whenever it comes around)
    - Leve Fang

For sub weapons any high attack weapon works I guess.

    Stat point builds are
    1) Dex > Agi > Crt: High accuracy and moderate attack

    2) Str > Agi > Crt: High damage

Refining your weapons does wonders for damage, particularly your main hand, although off hand does help too.
