i can't tell if the answer is obvious but i'm definitely not getting it. what does having negative ailment resist do in comparison with 0%?

if at 0%, the enemy's hits that have ailments give ailments, isn't negative the same then? unless there's some ailment rate thing idk about.

I don't think it does anything at - 10. But it's bad for builds with MTL

ailments are inflicted at a specific rate, and if successful, ailment resistance will be checked to roll for a chance of avoiding the ailment.

in this regard, negative resistance likely makes no difference to 0.
but it certainly offsets ailment resistance from other equipment.

guard can also block ailments, and i guess that negative resistance reduces this effect as well.
