    Hello!
I'm new to both this forum and the game, and I've never really played mmorpgs before. I'm not sure which weapon to choose, so . . . any sort of guide to each of the weapons would be appreciated :)

    Welcome to the game!
For the weapon, you can choose 1h / crusher/ bow, those classes are easy to play and newbie friendly too.

I hope you enjoy the game! Personally I think 1h shield tank is the best since you don't really need expensive gear as you don't need to do damage. Just know how to keep aggro and stun at the right moment. Almost all parties for boss fights need one too so you'll be welcome anywhere.

I am also new! So far katana is fun even though I get 1 shot a lot lol. I've also heard good things about dual wield.

I think the easiest would be bow or 2h, but everyone plays those classes (even me) so if you want a challenge you can go with whatever you want.

If u are onto strategy, go for tank. But it will be hard because u will be the one responsible on carrying your team. I still saw tons of tank failing to get venena's pillar aggro even with good equips.

So my suggetsion will be pick Halberd, why hb? Dragon tooth will carry ur ass, no need full crit gears. I dont recommended ktn as newbie weap, u will only prolong the battle if u dont hve decent equip plus u will need to practice tons of skill mechanics using ktn, its good because its fun to watch doing flashy moves but ur teammates wont have much fun since u are going to eat tons of proratio while dealing low damage(assuming u have low end gears since newbie). So again, i suggest hlberd, the 100%phys pierce will carry u in any battles

Some people might be having some misunderstanding here. Being new means no tier 4 skills. That cuts down a lot of possible options. The easiest level to achieve will be level 70 and that's where the fun starts.

    70
1h+shield as tank/semi tank will always be in demand especially the good ones. Need 120+ for p.defense.

2h are strong because of high weapon attack

bows have the option of using snipe for armor break which is strong and will still be useful late game and/or Fatal Shot. Fatal Shot is cheap version of Snipe with very high crit rate which is good for newbies and extending break part time. Sunrise arrow from hunter skill is another option.

Halberds have access to buster lance/grand buster lance and strike stab which are good dps skills. Have Dive impact which doubles as farming skill and invincibility skill. But you really need critical rate.

mages are gonna have a hard time getting party for exp grinding but very great for mob farming.

katanas are very flexible and can solo easier because of zantei, magadachi and triple thrust

knucks got a recent upgrade from crusher skills and got quite strong. very good interrupt but be careful of bosses that are ailment sensitive.

Dual wield is a cheap kirito at this stage

At 150 you get to see the light at the end of the tunnel
2h gets a spammable wrecking ball

bow gets a chargeable physical nuke and auto ampr

mages gets magical nuke. You choose. Focus on damage or focus on cast speed. Finale is the nuke that makes you a sitting duck. Burst focus on cast speed and is very good when done correctly... only when done correctly.

Halb gets DT all the way. You can throw away your crit rate now.

    Katana becomes proration wrecker.

    at 170
You get to be a Kirito... but you need p.pierce for high defense bosses or you'll be a cheap kirito again.
Anyway... with exception of DT, Fatal Shot, and all magic skills, you will be needing a lot of crit rate for physical builds.

Edit: For a new player, you should focus more on surviving and understanding mechanics. What you see in some groups or youtubers can be misleading at times. If you see high digits, you should expect you'll be spending tens if not hundreds of millions of spina.
