hii im kinda new to Toram. :3
I've played bishop in Iruna, now I still want to play support and healer role in Toram. But some of my friends say that support style is useless, others say it is important in boss fight, boss wont attack u that u can have full time to help other., its not that useless o.o
I kinda like playing staff, mage and healer I like both, but I prefer healer. My first character now is lv120 with support and priest skill tree, but I have reset skill book. Im running MQ using merc. :3 Idk who I can listen to, I need a destination to try hard for it. Thats why I'm here asking ya all.
Btw if I saying sth stupid, dont say sth heavy to me ><

Edit 1: or should I change to mage blacksmith? Many people say that its easy to be rich and leveling ezly. :33

Right now support characters are still not that needed, it's nice to have in a party, but most parties would rather have 1 more damage dealer to make the run faster compared to pure support character. For newbies it's always better to make a good dps character first and finish the MQ. You can make a staff mage as your dps, use storm as main dps skill until lvl 150, then use finale as dps skill from there.

When you reach high enough level you would still have enough skill points to get support skills like heal, brave aura, etc. and be able to support your team mates in between casting finale to boss. Also it's not recommended to make a blacksmith for newbies, it needs lots of time and spina to make and level up a blacksmith to make it profitable. It is more efficient to make a luk character to farm for spina instead. You would just need to research which item is starting to become profitable, find out which mob drops it or it's ingredients, look for a party to farm that mob, then just directly sell them at consignment board. If you decide to make staff mage as your dps main character you can easily use the same equips for your separate luk mage character, this way you can just focus on 1 set of equipment and save spina.

Try to research and find threads here in this forums for any questions you might have, if you can't find a post that might answer your question don't be afraid to directly post a thread. This game is probably one of the most unfriendly games to newbies, full of vague explanations and hidden info that we have no way of knowing other than by painstaking experimenting and testing, you'll likely make several mistakes along the way while making characters and wishing you have more reset and oblivion books lol, unless you're very careful in researching first before deciding to do anything.

u can still be support if u play it right, but yes, if u get hit all the buff u have active is gonezos. boss can still atk u when u play support role.
currently most blacksmith items dropped in price, unless u get really lucky and craft a 2s item. but otherwise, you'll need to wait for anniv event to craft and hold to sell after event if u want the bang for your buck. but if so, u should prep ur bs now to make sure it's up and running by the time anniv comes in mid-july.

I think you shouldn't use your reset skill book now, because with mq you can achieve level 120 with hours of running it

This is why I don't recommend newbies to first make a Blacksmith to earn spina, lvling from 170-200~ is a nightmare for new players who only just started without ideal equipments, as well as farming the hours and hours required farming the material ingredients required to craft hundreds of equips over and over to level up the proficiency, that is if they already have a luk char to farm it with, as well as good equipments to farm properly.

This is why before anything else, 1st step for Newbies: Make a dps main character and finish MQ, Second step: Make a luk farmer for efficiently farming materials from mobs and selling drops for spina(Assuming you don't have OP guild mates or friends helping you and carrying you all the time, farming using your luk character should be your main source of spina). Once you have a proper dps char and have stable spina income from farming mobs with your luk farmer character, THEN you decide what to do for your 3rd character, whether its deciding to make a blacksmith or simply focusing on your main dps by lvling it to max 205 and focus on improving its equipment.

Sure, just private msg me when you would like to meet, I also have a decent attacker mercenary that you can use to easily finish MQ with, so you can use that to help you with MQ once you've added me in game.

Below 150 level better delete the char and make new one, I think only use reset book if your level above 150 level...

Weakness? Unless you use power wave you're pretty much a close range fighter. And it's not really worth taking Power Wave unless your style demands it.

The problem is that many builds within themselves contains support skills...... my closest to a support build is a burst mage but it’s complicated to handle and you need good equips to make it viable since burst has a low multiplier. Along with previous posts it’s best to get your dps at cap or close to cap. Save your book. If at cap you still has that desire you can look into the burst mage build as an option. It’s fun and you do ok damage (I wish it did a little more damage) but you’ll be liked in a party when they get buffed with quick motion, high cycle and brave aura. Together with the fact that you magic spam helps a lot in proration when there are melee spammers in party .

Play at your hearts' content, I've mained as a pure support it is challenging but it is fun.
Undderrated and underestimated, imo pure supports have potential in a party, you just need to sharpen your skills and decision making during battles (when to use auras, how to dodge, who to revive first, where to position yourself, etc.)

Of course, you will encounter parties that focus on fast kills and would kick you out (despite you boosting them and reviving them constantly). Don't get discouraged its what all full fledged support players experience, just know and keep doing your role when you are in a party, and you'll really shine.

Also never say lfp support, you'll less lilely get into a party, there is still stigma with that and you will be mocked. Let your actions and gaming skills speak for itself. Good luck!

I don‘t wanna argue with the whole „play what you want“. This is a game and we play it to have fun. So just play whatever the hell you want. It‘s not good? Who cares, a lot of people don‘t even perform good with META builds.

On the other hand to the usefullnes of support: the problem here is you usually have someone in the party to use brave aura and tanks often use first aid as well. I myself use first aid on my dps as well. Already having brave aura and first aid in the party greatly dimnishes the contribution you make as a support to the party. Also keep in mind that quite a sum of people don‘t appreciate heals. There is a skill called War Cry of Struggle which increases MP recovery if your HP is low. Rarely used, but there is also Demon Claw which does more damage when the HP are low.

I personally would like to see support getting relevant in Toram, but we aren‘t at that stage (yet).

Auras is lost when a player is hit, and thats what makes Support useful in a party to relieve MP consumption and helping DPS and Tank focus on their roles. Plus Mana Recovery+Spirited Dance+Chakra help in giving back MP to players.

Yes, I'm aware of that, that's why I never use Bless or Heal when they use WCoS or similar skills. The important thing is knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your party and also the boss you are fighting. Heal is a very useful skill compared to first aid (when reviving) since the MP cost stacks a lot. Especially when party members keep on dying a lot.

A tank has first aid that gives survivability, but what if all party members die and the mp cost is too high? The boss is about to die, Tank cannot deal that amount of damage ans he has to alternate between mp charging, first aid, crowd control to keep the boss busy. That is a lot to do.

If there is a support, he can help alleviate the burden from tank because most often they are second or even the last man standing (if no tank)

Yupp im making a finale now :3 i have small reset skill book so that i can reset support skill tree and have enough sp for mage skill o.o I think that my combat gameplay isnt that good due to the fact that im a newbie ^^ so I will use DPS to get accustomed to the game and the skills of other jobs, then I will build a char that is really what I want. Thank you so much for ur advice ~~

Yupp I also think that theres no useless job, just useless player ~~ thank you for useful advice ~~ it really gives me confidence to try for my play style /^^/

My advice is.. build a tank char with support skills, and if there is already a tank in pt, just support him/her. If he dies, do the tanking.. but thing is most competitive toram players don't like to have 2 tanks, the fight takes longer. Hence, a supporter in the frontlines of leveling is already a lost cause...
