Newbie of Katana Industry

    Hello guys! I am a Halberd main and is planning to switch as Katana main. may I ask some useful tips for ktn and solid builds for it? Thank you so much:):):)

    Mononofu Mastery is like every weapon mastery skill, but also adds a little HP and MP.

    Two-Handed icreases your atk stat by 50% during damage calculation of critical hits. you must not equip a sub weapon to gain this effect.
    only tank/support or Assassin builds would drop this skill in favour of wielding a dagger. most katana builds leave the sub weapon empty to benefit from this skill.

    Shukuchi is your skill for MP recovery.
    when you are out of attackin range, you will dash forward, deal 50% more damage on auto-attacks and increase ampr of that attack.
    make use of the katana's unique movement ability to trigger this as much as possible. (hold the direction button during auto-attacks to perform sliding step after the attack)

    Meikyo Shisui lowers your defenses and greatly increases your critical rate. this effect lasts until after the next skill is used.
    you can use it as combo filler to guarantee a critical hit for the following skill, or use it as combo ender for stronger attacks during your proration/ampr phase.

    Kaikiri Ranshin sets yourself on fire (you will loose 50% of your current HP) and greatly enhances your offensive power, especially for Garyou Tensei.

    Issen is the standard attack skill, like any other 1st skill. it is slower than other weapons but hits twice with increased critical rate on the 2nd hit.

    Pulse Blade is your ranged attack. it costs only 1mp, like Issen, but has 12m range and deals more damage because it hits 3 times.
    from a distance of 3m onwards, damage decreases by 1% per meter, but it's still very good.

    Triple Thrust is weak on the damage side, but has great utility. it has 20m range and moves you behind the target. after successful activation, the skill constant (atk bonus) of the next skill will increase.
    it's also great for dodging frontal AoE's mid combo.

    Hasso Happa is your AoE skill. with 5mp is the most expensive, but it will never miss/graze.

    Tenryu Ransei is an attack skill that combines with Magadachi and Zantei Zettetsu for high damage.
    but the skills must be used within the buff duration. default duration is 10 seconds and can extend to 30 seconds if you successfully parry an attack.

    Garyou Tensei is the "ultimate skill". it's base power is low, but it powers up ten-fold by using 10 other katana attack skills before.
    Kaikiri Ranshin and the Armor Break ailment (on the target) will greatly enhance this skill.

    Magadachi is a double use skill. it costs 3mp to activate and either blocks an incoming attack or strikes if you didn't get hit.
    the damage is medicore, so you usually want to aim for blocking attacks. if you do, it will not deal damage, but recover 2mp and you cannot be killed by fatal damage. this skill cannot be included in combos.

    Zantei Zettetsu is another double use skill. this one will always deal damage, and if you get hit during that time, you can reduce damage taken to 0 once and add another hit to the attack which also inflicts armor break.

    and if you want to be op with a katana, you must pose like the Pillar Men do.

    ohh so in a way, katana relies more on its passives and its buffs?

    You need the buffs because the katana itself is not a ''high-atk-weapon'' like the halberd or 2h. It's more DOT than DPS.
    Btw, are you making a new char or resetting remaking your hb char into a ktn char?

    I dunno why you would want to switch to katana from halberd.........the devs seems to give halberd favoritism, dragon tooth is still one of the most op physical skills especially with its 100% physical pierce and little need to equip critical equips, allowing you to focus on pure damage. It also recently just got a massive defensive boost with dive impact giving invincibility frames and being able to use elegant poise from equipping dagger, just from these two new skills alone and halberd has already exceeded katana in terms of survivability imo, one of halberd's cons used to be the lack of survival skills and glass cannon build from gsw, but even the devs decreased the resistance for halberd gsw..............mayam routinely singles out halberd as one of the most broken weapon class in game, he said giving halberd a 100% physical pierce skill when they have the highest weapon attack, and 100% critical rate to boot, is downright retarded in terms of balancing lol
