Oni horn + Armor = New Meta for non tonfa?

I don't play anymore, but I just saw these new crafts.

Seems like it'd be amazing chance for raw ATK stat growth for knuckies and 2hs.

 

The horns is alright as it has a crit boost as well.
Armor tho? Nah not worth losing around 30 cdmg from player made armor just for that small amount of atk.

Edit: well it might actually be ok for knux instead of 2h to have the armor as well for higher def bosses but tbh trying to beat high def bosses with knux is like hitting your own head against a wall.

 

We're just using the garb for show. Not really great stats.

Interesting... with lvl 6 crit food, lvl 10 crit up skill, fc17 knux, vulcan shield, oni horns & bexiz/warmonger xtal you would be over 100% crit.

So you would be giving up around 70cdmg for the additional 200 atk here (by switching 2nd stat STR > VIT and using this oni garb over fc17 arm). Doesn't seem too worth it.

Nevertheless, I'm still all for them tonfas~

Idk how you calculated that to be 100% crit, looks more like 77% to me. I never added food in my calcs but from what I heard max is +14. If you are comparing with some extra stuff like megiston champ or zelbuse then that will move the favour to fc17 even more as its possible to remove 1 or both of them.

200 str fc17 vs 200 vit on oni garb is more like 74 cdmg vs 200 atk. Absolutely no way 200 atk can win against that massive cdmg.
These gears are indeed bad if you are looking to just deal damage, they are better for players that want to have a dps tank with proper survival without losing as much damage. Pure tanks are not always needed and sometimes not that fun either thats why semi tanks exist.
Thats why I feel its only better for 2h/halberd to use them and not knux as formers already have str main and the growths from dex/agi are mediocore.

 

Good point, i quickly corrected myself about the 50cdmg, and now i have added the full list of gear for 100+crit. I assumed oni horns were already in the mix because oni garb was being considered

 

Then it would be more like 400 atk vs 74 cdmg then, fc17 armor removes the need of food and warmonger with additional crit so its a bit better but still long ways to beating it.

 

Clearing away my DPS tunnel vision, I think it would be more 400 atk plus a LOT more hp VS 74cdmg. Tweagles could be quite viable this way, going semi tank... maybe

 

Oni Arm could be used as a tank armor though for Bowgun tank. Not really the best, but still average

 

(Absent-mindedly just thinking about Oni Arm). But on the topic, for knuckles, especially for Masta Tonfas, I would say it would be quite useless. Oni Horns with 20 crit would also not be very suitable for one using Master Tonfa, as -100% critical is really devastating.

Twin eagles would be actually a better knuckle It can actually be useful as a dps/tank/break parts char when refined high

 

oni-set give a non tonfas a chance to gain the same atk(on status screen) as tonfa and the option to use element. but even tonfa without 2nd stat is still stronger, my guess.
as for 2h, completely have no idea.

No doubt tonfa is still the best way to go as a knucker.

However, remember, CDMG means nothing if your RAW atk is low. Especially on non NORM bosses.

Almost tempted to come back just to grab these two items if i ever return to the game.. LOL

 

I'd say it depends on how much the atk before the increase, but 74%cdmg is surely huge. for example assuming you have 2k attack, then add 200 atk which makes it 1.1 times of the original atk, multiply it by 1.5 from basic cdmg gives you 1.65, compared to 74 cdmg, 1 multiplied by 2.24. You'd need about 50% of increase in atk to have about the same worth as 74 cdmg. Cmiiw

Edit: just read the tome of offense, it also depends on the skill attack value so its not as simple as that since its additive it makes it even less signification than cdmg
