People are so mean, it hurts to use Knux

I was leveling up my latest character at Builder golem, and I had no atk equipments or xtals:

Rescue Gloves 306+E
Cool Summer Yukata +250 MP
Darling Tiara + Gespenst II
Speed Talisman IV

TL; DR:

• I did pt with another dude, and he's like, "what build? No damage?"
• I told him that I have no equipment or xtals, and he said 'I don't have any either, you do too low damage.'

• It wasn't like I can't do damage, I can do Chariot 180K max, Rush 40K * 4, Goliath punch 250K max (Including Annihilator) and 320K with full GodHand. Yes, it's not much, but I literally haven't spent points in anything except AGI, and have no ATK%/SRD/LRD/Elemental Gear. (Don't want to spend on STR yet)
• I was the one spamming combination and Throwing knife on Builder Golem so that I can get some Proration benefit, while said dude was DW, using (probably) SC spam.
• I understand Knuckles does less damage than other classes, I live with that fact. But here I don't have any xtals/equipment, I am just testing the build during free reset, and Crusher needs to build up their Proration and GodHand stacks to do decent damage.
• I told him I don't have any equipment and no xtals and I'm just trying out the build, and he is like,' That's too low damage, I don't have any equipment either.'
• I felt so sad. Either he was lying and actually had some sort of buffs/gear, or maybe raw SC does like a million damage. Is Knux really that useless?

 

i deal somewhere around 400k with 3 charge smite cf on crit so dont feel sad about it. im not using any xtall and food buff but i have player craft bowgun.

believe me, you could out dps me with that.

 

This is the reality of knux dps. Especially if your starting out.

Heck people would assume you are tank just because your using knux shield, and no matter how much you tell them your not they kick you out.

But then again, aso never really did Knux class any justice. Even from tank perspective.

The funny and sad thing tho is, alteast from my experience, playing as any type of support you last longer than a knux dps in a party, you have less chance of getting kicked.

Anyway my advice would be until you get better gears, play as semi-tank role or play with guildies.

 

Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but I’ve actually never been kicked from using knuckles. I’ve actually only ever gotten positive reactions and even praise for building with knuckles. Usually in parties if I get any reaction it’s that people are really fascinated by it. It’s when I use my MD mage when I get kicked without having any chance because people tend to think I just don’t know any better or don’t realize it was actually a choice...

Still I’m so sorry you had to experience that. ^^; I know how it feels and it really sucks... Just try not to let it get to you. You know what you’re doing and that’s what matters.

 

I get praises using my brawler in a party. Though, 4 months ago I experienced getting kicked out of a party by a fellow salty brawler. I'd say, lead the party to avoid it. Lol. ^_^

 

It depends on context. Yes, in the metagame, knuckles are one of many classes that are considered "inefficient". However, considering your own enjoyment of the game, no, there is no such thing as a useless class. This is the issue with heterogeneity; classes will be, fundamentally, unbalanced. Unless you’d like every class to be homogenized, which would be bloody boring, you will have to contend with the fact you’ll deal less damage than the next class--I'd take fun over balance any day, and knuckles is certainly a fun class, despite its drawbacks in the DPS department.

Edit: I've confused min-maxing with meta-gaming. They aren't synonyms.

 

Builder Golem is below lv150, 4th tier skills shouldn't be available at this point.
especially DS which unlocks at lv170.

i have seen people wanting lv100+ storm to farm Shell Mask. (full LUK of course, because it has no effect on the party)

just block them. unlike the friend list, there is no limit.

 

I don't let the fact that I deal less damage affect me, but it's others who point fingers, and then it feels like why to try out something different. I love how Knuckles playstyle works - even better now, since I can just use GodHand without worrying about Combination.

(As I was leveling my character through MQ, which I was relegated to do after no pt would take me at Cerberus Ultimate, I found it rather easy to solo normal until Guignol (which I did on easy + merc, wtf is this boss). I could do a simple technique of Using Godhand to save myself and build stacks, filling in spaces with Combination and Throwing dagger, and then using Goliath after filling GodHand stacks. Using Rush in pauses between, or Chariot if boss is camping on spikes.)

It becomes very difficult in Party or Miniboss leveling, because their own damage increases due to the Combination/Throwing dagger spam I do, and my own damage decreases. I cannot control when I launch Goliath - but Crossfire users can, and this makes it very difficult to time it just before their hit hits.

Also the battle between KnuxMD and KnuxDagger is still strong. I really really love how I can maneuver KnuxDagger and Assassin Stab makes for a 4th DPS skill, and adding Zarth+ Aggravate+Arcane strike gives a lot of AMPR, but KnuxMD solves the MP problem, and gives ... range... Which is what I would have liked on Knux Dagger...
Also I don't like using a decoy that's almost never in range.

Yes, the optimal choice is to go LRD gears and spam Impact Chariot, but Knux Dagger gives you 5-6 different skills,

• Goliath
• Rush
• Chariot
• Demon Claw
• Assassin Stab
• Shadowalk
• GodHand

It just seems a waste to not utilise this to the fullest potential.

I'm testing out different playstyles during this Free reset campaign.

What's even more difficult is the balance of Crtical, ASPD and ATK. The higher ATK knuckles limit you from maxing your CD/CR or your ASPD. Also most higher Knuckles are Untradable so we have to self refine to +B or Higher. (Not that I mind)

Moreover, Wandering wheel xtal kicks Chariot in the shins.

The difference is in testing. I cannot test how a playstyle will go if I'm not high leveled enough. And if players keep picking out on me, I feel even more disheartened to continue. (Fk Asobimo, I just deleted my 165 char before the free reset campaign to create this one)

 

one of main reason why knux is very outclass because of GSW (giving all class possibility to become speed type especially with strong weapon is worst scenario to knux)

they should let alone knux one of the best fastest dps type in the game (so even with knux has lower output damage compare to other class, knux can do attack more frequently to spar other class)
