Proficiency in relation with Skills?

    Gday!
    I want to ask if production proficiency affects certain skills in the production tree.
    I've read somewhere that Smith Proficiency affects the number of materials used in statting equipment.
    Does proficiency affect other skills in Smith (refining) and Alchemy as well with respect to their respective skill trees?

    Synthesis Profiency affects Equipment Synthesis by increasing the number of lockable attributes.
