Pure Tank or Paladin?

my friend told me that he will make a paladin so that when pt is wiped out he can deal some damage to finish the boss
and he said he will do vit>str
and i will do a pure tank with vit>mtl
which one is better?

 

the only advantage of mtl tank is it can avoid ailments and interrupts spammed by boss whereas vit str paladin can also take hits and deal decent dmg but ailments and interrupts can get ya killed if the boss is a hard hitting one

 

also it's better to use mtl tank for high difficulty events in which u can fall off the arena.
resistance to knockback can be quite helpful

 

If you die, its all for naught. Pure tank is a better tank overall. What the heck is a paladin anyways, most of the so called paladin were actually knight builds with str and dex with slightly higher vit and still uses meteor break instead of binding strike.

 

If u plan on tanking, paladins suck at it really bad, if u wanna tank make a true tank if not don’t waste your time. There is nothing more noobish then having a crap tank at venena where they give excuses like “ I am not a tank I am a paladin” . If you’re not a tank then don’t f****** say you’re tank and do us a favor and just die . Anyway had to get that off my chest because pcr weilding noobs giving tanks a bad name.

 

If you always like to use long combos and is lazy to observe boss attack patterns and can't p.def/elegant poise/meteor each and every attack the boss gives you, do mtl>vit, as long as you can get 100% ailment resistance from mtl then it will be easier for you. If you know what you're doing and can predict the boss attack pattern and is experienced enough to be able to elegant poise/meteor/ or just manually evade all boss attacks with troublesome ailment like stun, and would like to shorten the boss run or become back up dps, then you can try abandoning mtl and go for str>vit/dex>vit/agi>vit(depending on what weapon you use).

I simply abandoned mtl from my tank and became semi dps tank ever since the developers introduced that absolute ailment, where you still get ailments even if you have 100% ailment resistance, Usasama hell destroyed alot of 100% mtl tanks when the event was going on. But imo having 100% ailment resistance is still quite useful for mass miniboss farming.

 

Just use first aid level 10 and revive your team members.

The thing about paladins? They're not tanks, they're something else entirely.

You can still use binding since it has higher damage with a shield sub, but have y'all heard of the true god of Dameg shield cannon?

 

Its still meh without decent atk and cdmg from str.

 

It can still hit like 300k+ with no str investment wot

 

Go with paladin seems way better than regular tank tbh 100% ailment is nice but not necessary

Do whatever you want
If you want to be the sub-tanker that's there if the main dies (or if there is no main tank to find) Paladin is not the worst option. You get to feel like you're contributing a little bit with damage if you aren't tanking.
If you want to be full tank, then do that, just remember that a lot of people will blame you for things they did.

I mean what you're saying is the caveat, I'm saying the baseline if you build for 100% crit with no CD reducing gear (I.E, not using drills or Toy Hammer)

 

Lol so many ppl gunning for stun as tank you won’t have much opportunities to do so, honestly the propriation will be messed up already because of most dps being physical in nature so having a tank adding to that needlessly makes things worse. Furthermore if the party is good boss runs finish rather quickly before a semi tank can take a noticeable chunk out of the boss hp, if a tank has to make up for the dps in a battle I would advise you to get another party.

 

Its still more of a gimmick rather something to build around with that amount of limitation. Even then as a tank, I'd use shield cannon sparingly to do timed interrupts.

 

If tank makes a considerable amount of damage I will start questioning the dps in that party... no, in fact, I will leave that party. Just think about it, what are the dps doing? Busy lying on the floor?

 

Yes, the dps are very busy lying on the floor. In fact, they are kissing the floor most of the time because they always die. And no, you cannot leave because you have just paid 5m spina for the ultimate gem run on that boss. In which case being able to do reliable dps as tank is (very) helpful.
