question about alchemist skills

is it necessary to max out the item synthesis row for successfully making pots, or is full tec is enough? most guides out there tell what is needed for 4-lock and not much about being an alchemist.

either that or my brain is so fried i can't understand anything i've been reading

Difficulty Limit = Synthesis Proficiency Level + TEC/2 + total DEX/6- This skill's success rates are supposedly affected by your Difficulty Limit and your INT (full effects unknown)- The full effects of leveling this skill on success rates are unknown.

When our Difficulty limit is the same or a bit above the item we want to create. Sometimes when making the item the amount will be lesser than what we specify before confirming to perform alchemy, this is because the success chance is not 100% and learning the synthesize row supposedly increase this chance (a bit). So depending on the item you want to make the synthesize row skill can be negligible.

the skills increase the base success rate.
base rate is unaffected by profiency and other factors, you could interpret it as the lower boundary.

TEC alone does not provide 100% success rate. it also adds a fixed amount, like the skills.

the remaining part of success rate is calculated based on the difference between item level and your profiency.
DEX and INT also factor into this, but much less than TEC.

difficulty level only restricts access to recipes and has no effect on success rate.
