The formula for Rage Attack, as posted by BambooKid (with a 2nd formula for DEVOTED nature) Is there a better Pet Nature Chart?:

I actually have no idea as to whether there is a difference in proration depending on whether it is a magic or physical auto-attack (pet or character). I have been curious about that for a very long time, and have done almost nothing to find out.

But, in the case of the skill Rage Attack, apparently the pet will use either it's MATK or it's ATK depending on whichever is higher. According to the Coryn Club Pet Guide (Rage Attack skill description): Coryn Club Pet Guide

"An attack that generates high Aggro. If the pet's ATK is higher, deal physical damage. If the pet's
MATK is higher, deal magic damage."

The Pet Guide is very good. Read that and also the @Alzarith thread Pet Natures Chart and you will know an awful lot about pets.

If MATK of your pet is higher than ATK then rage attack is magic skill, use magic proration for damage calculation and is counted magic proration.
If ATK is higher it is calculated by physical proration and counted physical.
Physical rage can be missed and evaded while magic rage is absolute hit like other magic skills.
