Scam? Anybody else recieve a message like this?

So I just logged in toram and got a message from Asobimo in my mail box saying they are being cyber attacked and need my password and username, no one in my friends list is named "OFFICIAL" as shown in the screenshot so can't b a prank or someone tryna be ridiculously brazen and tryna scam me, so what is this?
Anyone else get this? Is this legit or perhaps a cyber attack disguised as asobimo tryna fish for account details? Surely Asobimo would contact me directly by email and not in my mailbox on toram. The message doesn't ask for my email so kind of seems it could be legit.


But yeah just weird, too scared to reply to this with my password.

I think so too. I know this website isn't affiliated with Asobimo I just wana know if anyone else got a message like this, I'll query this to support ingame.

I have no one on my friends list named "OFFICIAL" and never have and I have been on hiatus, I login and cook my food buff once a day so I never recently deleted anyone who could have mailed me and changed there name to this, there's only a select few I have ever mailed, people I have known for a long time so wondering how this got to my mailbox.

Surely, if they need to contact us, wont it be methods that are more ‘official’ (our own email etc) than like normal players~? Via mail ig ~ :3

Normally system admin won’t ask for any user password or personal detail. Not only because of personal confidential, is because of they can reset or edit your data from their side without accessing to your account.

So not only in Toram, none of any system admin in this world need user to provide password to fix their problem.

its not really a new scam, this has been used by scammers since the 1st existence of mail features. they're just changin to a new tactic or wut so ever

They are finding new ways to scam, as botting and traditional ways are becoming harder

 

In truth there is compromise, if there were a cyber attack, Aso would first make sure no one would be able to play the game and send a notice out before anything, since allowing people to play, login, and make accounts DURING a cyber attack would be compromising the playerbase and is wholely unethical.

 

asombi has stated that they will never ask for anyones username and/or password for any reason. they dont need it cause they can access it themselves

The fact that you've thought about giving your password worries me

 

They probably found a workaround. for all we know you can just message a passerby, or they hacked in that functionality.
anyways, fox's suggestion would be the best response. it would slow them down a bit more, if nothing else.

 

Most mmorpg players know (or should know) that administrators will never ask for personal information and it worries me that people will still fall for this > _ <

I know someone who fell for this scam recently on Toram (She doesn't usually play games so she didn't know that admins don't do these kind of things) I'm not sure if Toram is going to do anything about the victims but I hope they find those responsible for the scam

 

you know, back in the old days, we would receive e-mails from a nigerian prince who just inherited a fortune. but the banks in his country are so corrupt that the money wouldn't be safe there and they would steal most of it under the disguise of fees and taxes. so he asked for our bank account info, for using at as a gateway to transfer the money to a save place in switzerland where the banks are good.
of course he would reward us for helping him by allowing to withdraw a certain amount, when the money moves to our account.

I just thought it's weird they never asked for my email, wouldnt they need it to login into my account? So yeah for a second i did think maybe it's legit but again there is no way i was giving password through a mail, real or not lol.

 

I was actually thinking about making a new account just for them and naming it Dumb@ss and mailing over the password xD
But too much effort and I'm kinda clueless about hacking and stuff, maybe they will track me that way @-@
Last thing I need is tuyuls stalking and tailing me. K I'm too paranoid xD
