Semi-tank? Pfffft. | An AGI-VIT Tonfa-Shield Build

Listen. I am not a meister so please give me advise and input. I mean, pretty please~!

Anyway, hello guys! Chie is back!
Has it been a year? Has it been months? I used to play with AuburnVV as my IGN. Now it is Wize城塚. It's been months since I left the forum, and gods I miss Huffl— I mean Knuckles community ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡

Craps aside, I am going to write my build here. This is not a balanced build, mind you. This simply is my build. If you have any input, please say it! I am dying without optimisations and advises. OK, then! Let's get started?

I will start with my equipments (and Crystas). Here we go!

FAQ: WHYYY U NO USE FC+19?!
Answer: Because... why FC+19? I don't use STR, ffs, and I can get more Crit easily with Curious Dress. I won't change my armour, thank you!

I am planning to take Shield Cannon in the future, when the Free Reset is live. But, I am not sure what to unlearn (｡>﹏<｡)

This character is currently level 185, and mainly used as a soloist. But, so far, I can tank for 2H and Finale. I don't know if they use any kind of -Aggro items or

I kinda expected Shield skills and Sword Skills since the rebalance made Shield Cannon absolutely broken with a +S Shield, being able to do upwards of 800k damage with War Cry, Brave, Smite.
Though I know you said you're gonna learn it.
Plus War Cry is great for taking lots of aggro and being a sub supporter for the team while you tank.

Btw, why Kairiki?

 

I need the AMPR when I can't cast decoy for Kairiki T. T

And yes, Warcry is very useful. Unfortunately I took Kairiki. I will reset Kairiki, though, when there's free reset.

Edit: not sure if I will like the no-decoy gameplay without Kairiki

 

Eh, its just a shame that Knuckles dont have as good options for AMPR, I dont particularly like Decoy on anything thats not an archer, but I'm not here to rant. Some good ways for Knuckles to also get extra MP are with Rush + Chakra, Shell Smash, or maxing Shukuchi.
I can tell you that the AMPR from shukuchi is actually very respectable.

 

Shukuchi is way better than Kairiki for AMPR. At lv10 it gives 25 AMPR, same as Kairiki. But unlike Kairiki, it doesn't set you on fire nor have a duration of 10s. Also Shukuchi can be easily abused over and over very quickly, unless you're slowed or stopped. Shell Break is unreliable, especially when there are Snipers in the party, who can easily inflict armor break.

 

Shukuchi is out of my playstyle, so I crossed it out of the list. Unfortunately I prefer punch punch fast, than goes back a lil, then dash, then repeat. With Close-to-50% Motion speed, punch is faster than abusing Shukuchi to me. I tried it, and it doesn't work well with me

Also, I don't use Chakra for the buff will be gone once I get hit. It's unreliable

 

Shamefully enough, a lot of things are unreliable, the other ways could be just adding AMPR gears or xtals like Tapir.
Other than that, I dont think there are any other readily accessable AMPR gaining skills that doesnt have large drawbacks. If you wish to continue using Kairiki then make sure you can safelu use Recovery. It can become very hard to use it as it has a pretty lengthy animation and can be interrupted.

 

I usually bring vaccine with me as my HP is high enough and I have pdef. But, yeah sometimes it's hard to use Kairiki T. T

I am hoping there's some buff for Knucks...

 

Knucks I personally feel are fine, they are just a very good utility and supporting skill line as opposed to main skill line or DPS skills.

My Agi vit play style is lot different than yours. I don't use Impact (Because impact is for novices)

As far as gear goes this is my recommendation -> Drop curious dress and get FC19 2s with Fluck and Guig, You'll lose -6 crit here and -10 from stats and drop -4% ATK we'll talk about that in a bit

Drop the Pomie and get Megiston Champ -> you will lose about 6% total atk here but regain that -10 crit from earlier

On your special, drop the guig and throw in a Zelbuse -> You'll regain 8 crit and the damage will be largely unchanged as 15% Weapon atk on tonfa roughly equates to 45 Wep Atk. You'll maybe lose 1% compared to guignol at worst.

End of the day calculations -> about 29% More Crit Damage, 2 more crit rate, a little more hp from megiston and 2k more hp from unused stats (34 more atk from oni horn). Compromised for 450MP, ~10% ATK, and 20% Ailment resist.

 

20 SP just for a low DPS stun. Yes its ranged, but why go out of the way when you can just bash.

'-' I won't change my armour. Not at least until Lv4 Smith skill, or cap 215. The reason will be money: I don't want to waste money for just a little bit more cdmg, while also damaging my MP. I think 450MP is kinda big... But thanks for the input. I will keep it as reference.

About changing Pomie, though, I kinda have a thought. But, do you have any recommendation that's better than Pomie? I used it just because I have it, not because of optimisation whatsoever, hehe

 

Yeah, I plan to try it first when Free Reset is live. If the damage is the same or higher than what I expected, I will use it. If not, then probably no.... But yeah, I guess it will be very useful. Ranged skills are very versatile, after all

 

personally im a big believer in ultima machina, for its overall balance. but neo maton should give you more damage than pomie as well as a nice defensive buff. Grecia is a contender as well with its pierce. right now i use mardula and ultima in my tonfas.

im very much an ampr style though. i use guardian and am a semi tank style. i use non combo chariot spam.

 

Ahhh, since I have enough MP, maybe I will go for Grecia '-')b
I also wanted to take Guardian, but then I read -atk... Don't want to be weaker UwU

 

yeah youll lose 15% atk if full pt is connected but gain 45 ampr. i find it to be worth it. ive used this char to tank thru the hell bosses while dealing damage. only works for party play. when im solo i have gsw in full force and pdef to survive.

 

Nah, nothing crazy about it. It's all preference. Even if we do follow a "meta" build, doesn't mean we will be able to perform better than when we use our preferences
