I'm a level 118 Katana user. Still working on what skills I should be using. Is Gsw a necessary skill to have???

Always a skill you should learn when you reached level 150. But it quite dangerous. Here are some explanations of GSW:

    GSW:

Each stacks provide (10% motion speed + 300 ASPD), up to 3 stacks (30% motion speed + 900 ASPD) = 35% bonus motion speed. The cons is your damage taken will increase alot. (1 stack = 100% total damage taken amplification; 2 stacks = 220% damage taken amplification; 3 stacks = 500% taken amplification). Ex: When you took 900 damage, the damage taken will be like this: 1 stack = 1800 damage; 2 stacks = 2880 damage; 3 stacks = 5400 damage.

It depends on you. Once you take gsw you can always have the option whether to use it or not. Once you ignore it you get extra sp. It's that's simple. I suggest you always take note of your team so you can adjust properly in case you learn it so you can avoid dying. Also, if you happen to find a permanent party it'll be very handy since that means you don't have to worry about taking aggro unintentionally.

    Here's the skill details:
    Godspeed Wield
    Lv 4 Skill; No Limit
    MP Cost: 100
    Damage Type: None
Skill Effect: Every time you use the skill, you add a stack to the buff; the buff can have 3 stacks maximum

    Buff Effect:
    - Attack Speed +(30 * Skill Level * number of stacks)
    - Motion Speed +(Skill Level * number of stacks)%
    - Evasion +(Skill Level * number of stacks)%
    - Max MP -(100 * number of stacks)
    - Physical Resistance and Magic Resistance -((100 - 3 * Skill Level) * number of stacks)%
    Buff Duration: 10 + (2 * Skill Level) seconds

Game Description: "Consume MaxMP and able to stack 3 times at most. Enhance ASPD/Action Speed/Evasion Rate for a short period of time and greatly decrease Physical and Magic Resistance. The effect ends when taking damage."

Halberd bonus: Attack Speed of buff +(100 * number of stacks)
Halberd bonus: Physical and Magical Resistance decrease of buff is reduced by (45 * number of stacks)%
Halberd bonus: Buff Duration +30 seconds

It unlocks your damage potential and even survivability in some case. When you've practiced enough, the extra motion speed will help you react faster with less restriction due to auto attack/skill animation that might delay your dodging and counters.

If and only IF you're ready. I'm talking about like knowing most boss patterns and mastering the katana(not in a weeb way)

at lv118, I'd say: obviously not
you don't have enough sp to raise ktn's core skills, and GSW itself is only an option, not a must-have
but raise it later on, may be around lv160-170, is recommended
