So... bout Toram's story

Anyone pay attention to the dialogue of the tree and notice it's trying to downplay you after you immediately beatdown the threat to its life?

Is there an unpaid intern being forced to write Toram's story because at this point it's just bad...

Bad enough to be noticeable.

 

even with the budget facial animation.

 

The dialogue that came afterwards had me laugh out.

The bush people refused to acknowledge the adventurer despite the tree saying they're cool but then when they saw that the adventurer had an item that the tree gave, they did a full 180.

Like wtf dude, who's writing this?

Plot's brain dead. To quest to gather horn for cure is very weak. Coudl've just left the tree to die then hand out that quest item afterwards. Which in return could have a better transition for the introduction of leaf people. Like get accused then captured or something.
I gave out with story years ago after after dark world chapter. This free class feature is the only thing left that drives to play this game. If "New World" proved to be has somewhat similar.....

 

I just did the last mq, and there is no problem at all with the dialogues.
Maybe you are just bad at understanding English.
If English isn't your 1st language, you are likely to find things written in English rather difficult to understand.
Or your perception would be different.

 

Maybe what he/she meants is how dialouge's are badddddly written. Though who knows it if it has something to do with translation or it is just in the innate raw dialouge. Try reading short novels set in a traditional fantasy genre or here some examples of what "I" was at least expecting.



Or at least characters that appears to have lived ages ago or came from some ancient civilization really needs work with their dialouge. Eg. Tree

No it's understandable. But what I refer to is not translation but PIS

 

Toram's story was always lackluster at best and dogwater on average. It never had a preconceived plot, they made it up as it went from an update to update, the best reason to play the game is the social aspect and an active community anyway. but the fact their writer does not even bother to correct typos and weird placements of words shows how little they care.
PS. Story also feels like it's been written by a child.

If the story is bad enough to be noticeable... at least the story is noticeable. I just straight up started ignoring everything happening around chapter 5 or 6. There are some interesting elements to it, some interesting developements...

But in general I think it's best to ignore everything except the good bits, and fill in the details yourself. It'll make more sense that way at the least.

 

What do you expect from an free to play mmo? They need a story that doesn't end. If you want a game with good story, then buy a story based game.

 

Barely any mmo has a good story. Almost none have any that is server based in progression.

In toram, the story is single player type. Yes there may be PIS and CIS but to have it in the setence right after (not even next sub chapter) is telling. The reason I being it up is because it is very noticeable with this story chapter release. (And lowkey reviving forums)

 

i think the time asobimo had decent story writing was for iruna in the earlier episodes

More like the over inflation of the MC ability.

The trope of 'gasp, that MC just did something! We need to talk about it and describe it in detail despite how mundane it is!'

MC can technically say no, once, when you fight that guy who then wants you to go kill 10 monsters. You can tell him no. That's the only time tbh. Can't remember the boss name but the dude is pink.

MC can actually decline request but then get forced to accept it, like Pelulu interrupting you to accept the request from Larflon

 

story up to meta coenubia is pretty good for my taste. Story got turned into a lil bit dark. Lots of deaths unlike on the first chapters.
Although I love it when they referenced Final Fantasy when you're about to meet Finstern. I remembered FFV.
