Some questions about katana

1. Is it better to equip a sub-weapon?
2. Did Hasso and Zantei's damage output got nerfed really hard? My damage of those two I would probably say a quarter out of the damage that I have seen on youtube's old video
3. Are physical pierce and unsheath att really important for katana?

1. No, ktn performed best without sub weapon
2. This is from differences in equipment, though in Zantei's case it's probably Tenryu-ed Zantei
3. PP is depend on your liking but unsheath is a must-have more or less due to ktn's nature

 

1. Always a no because of Two - Handed passive (if you don't have your sub, your total damage output will have (5 x skill level)% ATK if that attack was critically strike)
2. Only Hasso Happa (6 ticks to 3 ticks), Zantei Settetsu didn't receive any nerf, but Hasso Happa always be more powerful than Zantei Settetsu because of the perfect aim aka anti-graze to bosses and you can freely use other skills/slide away after the first tick so it's worth to max out Hasso Happa first.
3. Since katana is extremely wimpy to late game bosses so pp is a must for them, about unsheathe power is up to you (take as many odelon has possible if you want) but you have to make sure that you have 100 crit first.

Or just simply play Halberd then, DT is the most broken skill in Toram that is Suzuki a.k.a the rat is extremely proud of.

 

generally, no. equipping a dagger disables the Two-Handed skill, which is responsible for most of katana's damage.
using a dagger is only good for tank/support builds.

as far as i can remember, Zantei was untouched and Hasso just got a slight reduction because they unintendedly made it too high on release.
regarding youtube, most of those are faked. they use 10+ buff and potion effects on a monster with low defense and resistance. you can't compare this to the normal combat situation.

depends on what you are doing.
pierce is good against high def monsters, but ineffective otherwise. unsheathe attack multipliers are most effective on katanas, as they have the largest pool of unsheathe attacks. but it's a multiplier, so you still need high base attack for it to be effective.
pierce can help in this situation, but usually atk is easier to get.
