Stargems

Hello please look at these two pics.
I wanted to buy level 4 magic arrows, so I'll only need to use 1 skill point to unlock the next skills and save 4 skill points.
I bought 4 magic arrows star gem, fused them and equipped them but when I open the magic skill tree, it says the skill level is still at 0??
Did i screw myself over or what?

 

Yeah, you just screw yourself over.

Even if you equipt stargems, it doesn't mean that you LEARN that skill.
You can just use the skill.
If you want to take the next skill of the stargem skill you equipt, you need to learn the skill from the skilltree.

But like, What's even the point of a magic arrows stargem if it's like this.
It's the first skill of the magic skill tree, if we can't upgrade other skills after buying its stargem then what's the point of the stargem

 

Stargems and learned skills never add up on each other. 5+5 wont give you 10. Nor star gem would ever give you next tier skills once you equipped them.

 

To save yourself 5sp by using a maxed stargem instead (if you needed that skill maxed in the first place)

I would also say magic arrow SG has less value to max instead of say staff mastery

No, you can't unlock next skills on your tree through stargems, period.

Better example: If you used staff shield, and had L10 shield mastery, that's 10 sp saved which can be spent elsewhere

Better think that through. Most tier1 stargems are mostly used for utility or for the extra buff it gives which mostly ignored due to the defecit of skill points. It may save one 5 sp but others may save more if they are looking for an ender skill other than finale. Combt Passives are never a good idea to sell unless you lost a crap load of money.
